It was reported seems from Fox News that Comey was asked by Trump at a dinner to sign a loyalty pledge to him.

Comey did the right thing by refusing. Since when does a president ask a loyalty pledge by given to him and not to the Constitution?

If that is true...it will be good for patriots to boot the guy out of office. People from out of the country are saying that your president looks like bad news.

A personal loyalty pledge is something an authoritarian dictator or would be fascist demands. Screw Trump and his demands.... this is still the land of the free where people like Comey are loyal to the Constitution and the rule of law and not a braggart and liar who inhabits the White House and wants to continue his bully boy ways that have served him well his entire life.

I almost choked on my dinner last night when I read that. Trump's request was that absurd.

What did this pledge look like? If it was a binding contract, it should have a name.
Did anyone stop to think this may be a sour grapes allegation by Comey, feel free to prove me wrong and post the document that the MSM has surely made available, i'll wait.....

I look at the complete opposite way. IMO Come's refusal to sign a loyalty pledge is borderline treasonous.

If you were a CEO of a company and an employee refused to sign or give affirmation that he/she will act in the companies best interest, the CEO should have a right to terminate that employee.

Who does Comey think he is? Do we real need an FBI director that will defy the President of the United States?

The FBI director's loyalty should be to the good of the nation, all 300 million of us, not to one person.

There is a difference between loyalty to a company or official position and loyalty to any individual in that position. IMHO, it boils down to what is a lawful order. While you may be my boss that does not mean that when you say bash in that guy's head that I must do so. ;)

Let me ask you: If you were the President, would you want an FBI director that was against you?

Several presidents wanted to fire Hoover but at that point, he was too powerful. Trump cut Comey loose because he was developing a god-complex and an enormous ego.

Someone's been watching too much Game of Thrones.

If i'm not mistaken, the military does not require you to follow an unlawful order? I am waiting to see this posted, so far it remains, a mere allegation, I smell sour grapes.

Trump needs to be able to trust those around him There are far too many there who want to see him fail.

Probably not yet I would also not want an FBI director that would only do what I asked or would not investigate alleged crimes by my staff members or other executive employees.

There seem to be quite a few here that are willing to excuse almost anything to prevent that as well.

The one thing about Trump is that he is a people person. He's actually a very likable person. He's a people person. If you are from the Real Estate/Private Sector, you cannot succeed without very strong interpersonal skills.

Once people got to know Trump better, the personal attacks stopped - Look at John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio etc.....

If you can't get along with Trump, that's a really telling sign and a big-time character flaw. Jeb Bush, Comey, Rosie Oddonnell, etc...

The problem with this story is that if it is true Comey should have resigned on the spot, then gone to the press.

I look at this as being totally different from the status quo. I'm not making excuses just enjoying watching the hyperventilation.

My expectations of Trump are very low so anything he can accomplish in this atmosphere will be surprising. Fact is, he's already righted several wrongs.

It is said by some that in the old days it was Hoover that asked the Presidents for that signature.

I know this is a lot to ask of you Bucky, but... try to think it through
Trump has always had the right to terminate Comey.

What you are saying is that Trump willingly accepted a traitor as FBI director and publicly proclaimed his confidence in him.

Actually, both 45 and Comey took an oath to preserve and defend the Constitution.

The coward in chief is terrified that the truth will not reflect kindly upon him. I'm not clear how anyone can defend such a loyalty pledge.

The problem is that DJT has too many YES MEN around him. No one has the stones to say 'maybe we should talk some more before we hit 'SEND"!' Where has J Kushner been hiding the last few days? Storm clouds are forming.......

I think Trump acts more like Hoover than Comey did, by a long shot.

I doubt this happened and I certainly doubt Comey spread the story.

Besides, Comey already took his loyalty oath. When he took office. To the Constitution.
