Loyalty Requirement

When Comey testifies, and he will be called, it will be in the open, he will insist that it not be in a closed session. While I didn't agree with his actions re: HRC and HA, I think he'll have the balls to protect his reputation and call out 45 and his crew. But it'll take someone close to speak out if there is a there there.

So when is he going to testify, do you know?

I look at the complete opposite way. IMO Come's refusal to sign a loyalty pledge is borderline treasonous.

If you were a CEO of a company and an employee refused to sign or give affirmation that he/she will act in the companies best interest, the CEO should have a right to terminate that employee.

Baloney... the US is not a company, and Trump is not our CEO. Comey took an oath of loyalty to the Constitution, unlike Germans who took an oath of loyalty to Adolf. Trump, in effect, fired the traffic cop who was considering writing him a ticket. Sad.

I think I heard he refused to go before a closed session before the Sen.Intel. Don't quote me, this day seems like 96 hours, but I heard it somewhere. Sorry I can't be more precise.

LOL, are you? Where does it say, DJT demanded loyalty to him, as the NYT reported? See what I mean about that fake news thing?

I think you are not particularly clear on what fake news actually is.... it is a news story written without any or very sketchy foundation. Stuff that you find in the National Enquirer or on Infowars.

Being on the staff of the New York Times is generally considered the very best job a journalist could get.

What you fail to grasp is that the NYT has a journalistic rigor that does not allow them to publish fake news. Though sources of stories need not be revealed, they must be collaborated and the source has to be deemed in a position to know before the story can go to print. The reporter reports to his editor, who verifies the collaboration and standing of the source.

Now many stories do not have named sources, but that is how you get inside information. It is good to be skeptical of stories, but to catagorically dismiss them is to show ignorance of American journalism. You don't have to take the story as fact, but history will show that it is far more probably true than not.

Ok, just as soon as they show some facts, go ahead and post them, I googeled it, nothing but completely, unfounded allegations, if that is proof for, you, your standards are very low, for proof.

Who does Comey think he is? Do we real need an FBI director that will defy the President of the United States?

Do you really want a Director of the FBI to be loyal tothe President? Seriously?

You look at apples and demand they be oranges...

One more time for those in the back of the class- Business and government ARE DIFFERENT. Business has PRIVATE contracts of employment (with or without loyalty pledges)

Government has OATHS OF OFFICE. The loyalty is to the Constitution with a pledge to obey the LAWFUL directives/orders/requests of those appointed/elected to be your boss.

In a way the Government official does swear a 'loyalty' pledge- MUST obey LAWFUL orders but first and foremost the Constitution is supreme, above any man... :peace

All federal employees, or nearly all, take an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Both Comey and Trump took that oath.

Getting involved in personal loyalties is not good. There were at least 2 occasions during the campaign when candidate Trump asked those in the audience to raise their hands and take an oath to vote for him. That's when I positively KNEW I could not vote for the clown.

The FACT is that "sources close to Comey" have told multiple news sources, from NBC to the NYT, to Fox, to CNN.... each ran with the story after considering the source. Again, the story may not be true; but it is more likely than not to be true.

You have nothing (no facts) except the strong power of your denial to tell us this did not happen.

I think it was this:

"I swear: I will be faithful and obedient to the leader of the American Empire and people, Donald Trump, to observe the law, and to conscientiously fulfill my official duties, so help me God."

Oops..my bad, this was the public servant oath to Adolf Hitler:

'Service oath for public servants
"I swear: I will be faithful and obedient to the leader of the German Empire and people, Adolf Hitler, to observe the law, and to conscientiously fulfill my official duties, so help me God."'

Burden of proof, look it up. Evidently, you and others have no idea what it means ( HINT, yours, not mine)lol

Trump needs to be able to trust those around him There are far too many there who want to see him fail.

What does Trump need to trust the director of the FBI to do? Does he need to trust him to do what's good for Trump?

The FBI Director should be trusted not to politicize the Bureau by injecting it or himself into politics as Comey did multiple times throughout the 2016 election. Irrespective of President Trump's motivations, timing or execution, the dismissal of James Comey from his position was long overdue.

If Hillary would have won, his inactions would have been a great disservice to the country.

Had Clinton won, Comey would have been fired eariler.

What I think I find most amazing is that even 2 months later, we have yet to see this actual "pledge".

From what I have been able to read from non-biased sources, the President simply told him that he "expected his loyalty". Which is actually not to unusual, considering he is appointed by the President.

And as such a political appointee, he could be and later was dismissed by the President. Kinda like a previous President did.

Oh really, he bragged about choosing the best, another Trump BS, not suprised. As for the pledge, comes off as a bit uhm...third reich. Just calling it like I see it. Trump needs therapy fast.

Since Trump considers himself incapable of making a bad decision, opposing viewpoints are neither desired nor tolerated.

Trump demands loyalty to himself above everything else ... party, ethics, conscience, the truth, etc.

Maybe you could see it differently? Ever thought about that?

At present, all I see is continuous, repetitive yammering.

That is a totally valid point. The DOJ (and FBI) were politicized under the previous Administration. It is reasonable for the President to inquire into Comey's thinking on the topic.

Sadly, in this as in other topics, there seems to be a need to slip into "Nazi", "Hitler", etc. yet is loyalty a purely German thing??

It's not yammering, Trump says he picks ONLY the best and now he is insulting his OWN AG as incompetent that HE himself picked. How can that be since he only picks the best?

Spicer, and Flynn can be added to that list of Trump's "best picks" as well.

Do you ever tire of defending the Liar in Chief? Hope not, with Trumps erratic behaviour, he sure keeps you and the dwindling die hards busy with his alternative universe.

He's the duly elected POTUS and deserves a chance to shine as much as the ones who preceded him. Trying to destroy him does nothing but hamper the country moving forward.

Besides, your side has nothing.
