Well first of all for many of them their genitals no longer match their birth certificate so that would again make you wrong.

Secondly, a trans-gendered man looks exactly like a man in outward appearance. If he walked into a woman's bathroom he would cause a much bigger commotion than if he walked into a men's bathroom because he would stick out like a sore thumb. If security got called on a trans-gender man walking into a woman's bathroom how would he prove that his genitals force him into the women's bathroom? Do you seriously expect these people to pull down their pants and show security their vagina every time they want to go to the bathroom? Do you seriously expect them to carry around their birth certificate every where they go?


What happens after about the 3rd or 4th time security gets called for a false alarm with someone claiming that a man is in the women's bathroom only to find out it's actually a woman dressed like a man? It will be like crying wolf. Eventually people will get so used to seeing men walking into women's bathrooms that it won't even cause a stir. Eventually real perverted men who shouldn't be in a woman's bathroom will easily be able to walk in without anybody even noticing it. At least now if a man wants to enter a woman's bathroom he has to dress up like a woman in order to not appear odd looking. Turns out most perverted guys who want to sneak a peak on women aren't willing to go to all that trouble. So you see it's actually your dumb way of thinking that is giving perverts access to women's bathrooms.

The States are alleging 1.) The President essentially legislated when issuing his directive because the law does not address transgender and 2.) The State legislatures or Congress must pass a law to address transgender and bathrooms/lockers in public schools.

Of course, in this instance, Obama's threat of withholding education funds will have a direct and possibly adverse impact on educational attainment of the school children.

Federal education funds come from the federal government to insure that students are getting a well rounded education rather than being proselytized at by extremists who control wacky states. If states refuse to give a proper education to their children and ensure each child has a positive environment in which to learn then federal dollars should not be used for it. If North Carolina or Mississippi or Texas would like to brainwash their children they can pay for that garbage themselves.

First, you are interjecting with statements that are not established as fact. There isn't any evidence for the notion states are refusing "to give a proper education to their children" as expressed in your conditional statement. Indeed, this is not even the basis of Obama's threat to withhold federal education funds.

Second, "brainwashing" is an inherent part of the educational process in elementary and post secondary education. Children receive a sanitized and Americanized world view in many of their subjects. Yet, your focus upon "brainwashing" as related to "education" of the children is a digression. This is not an instance of teachers espousing a policy of integrating hatred, fear, or disgust for transgender people into their lesson plans or to be taught to children in the classroom. Neither is this an instance of states adding to the educational curriculum disgust or rejection for transgender people.

Rather, this is about A.) states refusing to permit transgender school children or teenagers from using a bathroom/locker room that is different from their present physical genitalia, and/or different from the sex listed on their birth certificate and B.) refusing to adhere to the Obama Administration's directive of how public schools are to accommodate transgender students.

You've focused upon the red herrings of brainwashing and "proper education." This instance does not involve either unsubstantiated claim. (I have yet to comment upon the inherent dangers of your thinking to withhold federal education funds on the mere basis of "brainwashing.).

Yet, your reasoning still has the school children suffering for the actions and conduct committed by other people. It does not make sense to jeopardize the delivery and attainment of a proper education that money can provide and certainly may facilitate.

Ironic Post of the Month Nominee.

I guess reading a birth certificate and asking people to use the restroom matching their genitalia is called proselytizing these days. If you ask me, the extremists are the ones demanding that birth certificates and genitalia do not matter when it comes to determining a person's sex.

And the issue isn't even about gay people or transgenders or whatever. As the culture becomes conditioned to such 'alternate realities' it has become generally more accepting and accommodating. It would be much more so if it wasn't for the many in-your-face activist types that force people to resent the whole idea. The occasional hateful bigot or actively anti-gay type has no power anymore and only generates more sympathy for the LGBT people.

So the issue isn't whether a transgender person complete with feminine clothes, makeup, etc. etc. might use the girl's bathroom. Such occasions are so rare as to not even be an issue. The issue is whether any dude can march into the girl's bathroom or locker room or whatever just by announcing that he feels like a girl today.

The President is the master of these things that look like good intentions but come with unnecessary and sometimes harmful negative consequences.

It's a good thing we have ways of determining who the actual extremists are. We can start by consulting experts who study the subjects of gender identity and sexuality, as well as deviant behavior patterns and see what the evidence suggests and if there is any kind of scientific consensus. As it turns there is. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to conclude that trans-gendered people are any more or less deviant or dangerous than the average person walking down the street. In fact most experts agree that the ramifications of attempting to force these people into a bathroom that is not natural to them is far more harmful and legally difficult to enforce than any imaginary problem that hateful bigots can dream up.

Oh and by the way, I know it pains you to hear this, but President Obama was popularly elected by a Majority of Americans who believe he represents their way of thinking. If you find yourself disagreeing with him it is a virtual certainty that you are at least in the minority if not an extreme minority.

And just exactly why would heterosexual people like myself and President Obama want to do that? How would that benefit us exactly?

The LGBT community makes up maybe like 2% of the total population. In order to impose their agenda on America they would need at least 51% of heterosexual people all of a sudden decide that they're perfectly fine with sexual deviancy and mental disorders. How exactly does 2% of the population con so many Americans into being okay with that without making an incredibly sound argument?

Okay so what % of the population of non-trans-gendered men do you expect to take full "advantage" of this and lie just so they can go into a woman's bathroom and hopefully get a peak at something(even though most women's bathrooms have individual stalls)? Do you know a lot of straight men who would consider obtaining a reputation as a transvestite to be a small price to pay to see boobs? In a world with the internet, and strip joints there are about a billion easier ways to see women naked that don't require you to make a complete ass of yourself. Especially when you realize that even in the typical women's bathroom women generally don't just go parading around naked.

The reality is there is absolutely no legitimate threat of this so called problem that you are worried about. The damage done and the problems caused by forcing trans-men dressed as men into a woman's bathroom are immeasurably higher. Do you seriously not realize the chaos that will ensue every time someone that looks like a man walks into a woman's bathroom because the law says they have to? Do you seriously expect every trans-person to carry their birth certificate with them every where they go? Do you seriously expect every security guard responsible for regulating these bathrooms to become an expert in recognizing valid birth certificates? After all if someone is willing to go to all the trouble of dressing up like a woman you'd think they would be willing to go the extra mile and print off a fake birth certificate. Also is a copy of their birth certificate good enough or does it have to be the original long form like Obama needed to prove he was a citizen? Which by the way are there any other decisions that Conservatives think can only be decided with access to a valid birth certificate?

The reality is that these idiotic laws are not designed to protect women. They are designed to embarrass and harass trans-gendered people and make it next to impossible for them to fit into society and live the life they choose. There is no other valid purpose for it.

Every single solitary time throughout history where we've had controversy's like this that pit traditional people stuck in the past vs younger more open minded people, youth always wins. No matter what stupid bull**** laws North Carolina or Mississippi tries to pass within 10 years it will be overturned, the controversy will be over, and what younger more liberal minds originally thought will become the norm. All you're doing is delaying the inevitable and making yourselves look like Dinosaurs in the process.

I disagree. I think it is perfectly valid for the 99+ people who are not transgendered to be accommodated as much as it is valid to accommodate the less than 1% of people who are. What the law did was not protect the dignity and respect for the very few transgendered people who society already pretty much accepted without any problem. What it did was open the doors wide open to admit any kind of pervert or just goons for laughs and giggles to legally access the women's facilities. Those who would defend that in my opinion are neither realistic nor honorable.
