Twitter has flagged a tweet from President Donald Trump early Friday morning, saying it violated its rules about "glorifying violence" after he tweeted that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" in regards to the ongoing unrest in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd. "These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!" Trump tweeted shortly before 1 a.m. Friday. Twitter flagged the tweet, which is now only visible if you click on Twitter's flag. Without addressing the Twitter guidelines that got his tweet flagged, Trump responded to Twitter Friday morning saying the social media giant only targets Republicans. "Twitter is doing nothing about all of the lies & propaganda being put out by China or the Radical Left Democrat Party," Trump tweeted. "They have targeted Republicans, Conservatives & the President of the United States. Section 230 should be revoked by Congress. Until then, it will be regulated."

Mayor Jacob Frey responded to Trump at an early-morning press conference Friday, saying that type of finger point is weak. "Weakness is refusing to take responsibility for your actions. Weakness is pointing your finger at somebody else during a time of crisis," Frey said. "Donald Trump knows nothing about the strength of Minneapolis. We are strong as hell. Is this a difficult time period? Yes. But you better be damn sure that we're gonna get through this." This is the second time this week Twitter has taken action against Trump's tweets. It previously flagged two of Trump's tweets about mail-in voting in California, saying Trump's tweets were misleading about elections.

Trump is nervous because his polling numbers are crap. He is also trying to divert from the US COVID death number - now at 103,000+ - which highlights Trump's horrible pandemic mismanagement in the first quarter of 2020.

"when the looting starts, the shooting starts"

The quote above is a Trump dog-whistle to his far-right white base. It originated with a racist white Miami police chief named Walter Headley who targeted black people in 1967 ahead of the Republican convention.

Nothing would excite Trump and his racist supporters more than the images of black people being shot.

So, I guess they will be tagging Kaepernick for calling for blacks to fight the police?

tRUMP is looking for diversions from is inept leadership ability.

He wants to use social media as a war for him. He has nothing left in his bag.
He toasted the economy by being unprepared. Slow to respond. Basically did nothing at all. He hasn't a clue on how to lead anything.

He had 1 feather in his cap, the not screwing up of the 10 yr bull run of the economy. Now he's lost that and is left with air in his bag of accomplishments.

He is running scared.

Once again, voters put Republicans in charge. Once again, we are headed to recession. This one likely larger than their last one.

So dumb. The twitter agenda is exposing itself. "Glorifying" violence doesn't make sense. Its doublespeak. It certainly is a *threat* of violence - and not an idle one. Its not some guy in his mom's basement wearing a Che tshirt. The threat is real and can be thought of as a warning.

What is important, IMO, to point out is that the reason Trump reacts as He does in this case, and every other case, is pure ego. The rest to do with dog whistling, or any other reason you can come up with, is merely, and I mean merely, what falls into line behind His narcissism.

I missed the part about your concern for the innocent store owners being robbed and having their livelihoods burned to the ground. I guess they don't count for anything.

And as a matter of fact, one store owner did shoot and kill a robber looting his store Wednesday night. And your concerned about dog whistles huh. lol

I feel it probably should have a disclaimer too.

When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction.

The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance.

We have the right to fight back!

Where in the tweet is Police mentioned? Where is it mentioned for blacks to fight the police?

Don't just make stuff up.

I, for one, am capable of having opinions on two things at the same time! I know, it's impressive. Would you like an autograph?

I agree with you, but I also feel the language could be misinterpreted as a call for acts to commit violence. A revolt can be peaceful, so I can also see the argument against a disclaimer. The only reason I lean more toward a disclaimer is because of the violence that is already occurring, even if it is from a smaller faction of the protesters or potentially from people who are using the protests as a smokescreen.

Well good for you. Now when you can explain the relevance of that comment to the post I made I would be glad to read it.

You're mad that people are worrying about one thing but not worrying about another thing.

How come you're worried about looters in Minneapolis when children are starving in Africa?

I agree, the language is vague.

But there is no specific calls to be violent to police or any Law Enforcement or gov't.

Look at how out of context a simple knee went.
It was a call to social injustice. It went unheard, and now a black man gets shot while jogging.
A black man is basically murdered by a white police officer. Knee on back of neck for 7 minutes, while handcuffed and 4 officers in total there. The 4 of them couldn't get him into the squad car while he was handcuffed?

But they won't.

Send them a message, and demand they do.
You do realize though, that as much influence as Colin has, Trump's is triple-fold on that.
And doubly, if what Colin says bothers you, but what Trump said doesn't, consider yourself part of the problem.

I do not want people to make the mistake that I in any way am opposed to protests against what happened to George Floyd (and anyone before him). There should be protests, and a revolt is also justified, but both should be peaceful. I think that violence and/or destruction of property are not the appropriate way to rebel. Keeping the issues in the forefront, pushing for reformed policies within law enforcement to change training practices and awareness, and bringing more people together to break down some of the barriers we have as a society can be extremely powerful.

What does "We have the right to fight back!" mean specifically and who exactly are they going to fight? If Trump would have said something like this Twitter would have tagged him for glorifying violence. Since the minions don't really know exactly what Kaep meant, don't you think he has the obligation to not let his words be misconstrued and used as a call to violence?

No mad, just exposing the idiocy of Liberal brains. Liberal leftist idiots crying about how Twumpy hurt their feewings over a tweet on Baltimore but not a single post about how these rioters are robbing innocent civilians and burning down their livelihoods for self enrichment.

We get it. Democrats and the left careless about the innocent people being attacked and robbed because there is a race card to be played. Not like its the first time. huh
