Washington(CNN) President Donald Trump said Monday that he'll award golfer Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, after Woods won his fifth Masters title over the weekend.

"Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday's @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!" Trump tweeted Monday afternoon.

Sigh... his choice, but way to prove the stereotype that everyone thinks of him.

He should have waited till Tiger beats whats his name record... so far Tiger is second best if that. He is also a drunk, wife beater and god knows what. But hey whatever floats his boat.
 
Lets remember that Trump and Tiger were buddies back after Tigers public divorce. Howard Stern used to do bits on how the two trolled together for women.

If Trump doesn't pan out for the Republicans, Tiger on the 2020 ticket could work. :lamo

First, I think its really cool for Woods to fight to get back his skills and win the Open yesterday. I tip my cap to him.

Second, Trump giving him a valued and treasured national medal is so dead wrong it just screams of one infamous cheat rewarding another infamous cheat - and is using those terms I am referring to both mens lack of control of what it between their legs.
 
America is all about second chances and redemption, and let's face it, if Tiger was a rabid anti-Trumper, the haters would be rallying around his victory and seemingly turning his life around.

People...could we please turn the pansy-volume down a bit?
 
It's a shame Trump has so little respect for this award that he os giving it to Tiger Woods. This award should only be given to people who drown the women they are having an affair with and fail to properly report the accident until hours later once they've sobered up and got dady to help cover up their crime, like Ted Kennedy was awarded by Obama. The nerve of Trump recognising a famous African American.
 
I mean, it is the Presidential Medal of Freedom, not the Medal of Honor. Celebrities at the top of their fields get this award all the time. Now, typically the award is for more than just being the best at what they do. To get the award they usually also used their fame or wealth to help others or inspire others. Tom Hanks in part got it due to his work and commitment to the military. Ellen in large part got it for risking her career to come out back when coming out was considered a career death sentence. And her career DID take a hit. People forget that.

Getting the award doesn't mean the person doesn't have flaws. Michael Jordan got the medal from Obama. Jordan cheated on his wife and was involved in sports gambling. But the medal is for contributing great things to your particular field, not for being a great person. So while Tiger probably wouldn't have been among my first picks for the award, I don't really have an issue with it.
 
I'm okay with his choice. I'm not a fan of Tiger but I can recognize his accomplishments in golf. He also runs a successful charity that has done a lot of good.
