Trump admin forbids CDC from using words like "evidence-based" and "science-based"

The Trump administration is prohibiting officials at the nation's top public health agency from using a list of seven words or phrases — including "fetus" and "transgender" — in official documents being prepared for next year's budget.Policy analysts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta were told of the list of forbidden words at a meeting Thursday with senior CDC officials who oversee the budget, according to an analyst who took part in the 90-minute briefing. The forbidden words are "vulnerable," "entitlement," "diversity," "transgender," "fetus," "evidence-based" and "science-based."

In some instances, the analysts were given alternative phrases. Instead of "science-based" or *"evidence-based," the suggested phrase is "CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes," the person said. In other cases, no replacement words were immediately offered. . . . The question of how to address such issues as sexual orientation, gender identity and abortion rights — all of which received significant visibility under the Obama administration — has surfaced repeatedly in federal agencies since President Trump took office. Several key departments — including HHS, as well as
Justice, Education, and Housing and Urban Development — have changed some federal policies and how they collect government information about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. In March, for example, HHS dropped questions about sexual orientation and gender identity in two surveys of elderly people.

Dangerous clowns. Then again, this is the same corrupt administration that brought you:

- What you are seeing and hearing is not what's happening.
- Alternative facts
- Facts that develop
- The truth is not the truth

Dumbing down the country and our institutions is a consequence I guess.

The CDC should simply publish an infographic saying "old term -> new term" and just proceed on as usual without changing their content. By the time a new order happens, Trump will be out of office anyway. That way science isn't impacted.

Thank you for the daily dose of classical liberalism.

What can you do about it though?

Was Obama wrong when he said "elections have consequences?"

Honestly, simply be patient. The younger crowd is a better class of people and that balance of power shifts some every year.

Nope. Now we're all stuck with Trump and "Idiocracy".

I would think that would be a violation of the first amendment because the government is using speech to censor our freedom of thought. I suspect it would also endanger lives.

PS...it's hard on the eyes to read blue text against a white background.

In what way as it relates to the subject matter of this thread? If the younger crowd doesn't like something someone from the right says they label their words HATE.

There should be NO banning of words by anyone ever!!!

Where did you see that I am for banning words?

Nothing I have seen from you over the month I have been here gives me the indication you are anything other than another Trumpist who will find a reason to justify whatever nonsense comes out of him or the administration.

You asked what could be done about voters who want to dumb down the US and I gave you the answer. The younger crowd tends to be better educated, more diverse, and more worldly then the 65+ year old reactionaries and because of their age, if nothing else works, then patience will (unless some sort of life extension drug is invented quite soon)

Those future elections will have their own consequences, to the betterment of the nation.

Banned under the law or banned by societal norms?

Circular argument.

Elections have consequences.
You may now have the last word.

Nope. I rebutted what you wrote by showing what 'word' hypocrites the "younger, better class of people are"...

Science Cancel Culture it seems

Honestly, if I were in charge of the CDC, I would just the exact same words in a different language and proceed, virtually ignoring the order while also conforming to it.

You failed to do that outside your own mind.

Re: Trump admin forbids CDC from using words like "evidence-based" and "science-based"

I think I'd impeach Trump on this alone.

Is there anyone here who does not believe Trump is the swamp?

Do you support this? Or are you just going to continue to ****post while the country falls into a Qanon conspiracy about "occult knowledge" and other sordid nonsense?
