“One of the things we’ve been hearing is it’s not the time yet to talk about gun control. And we respect that. We’ve lost 17 lives, and our community took 17 bullets to the heart, and it’s difficult to come back from that. So here’s the time were going to talk about gun control …. at the end of the day, this isn’t about the red and blue, the GOP and the Democrats, this is about adults and kids.

“We are giving all our politicians a clean slate, and in the next election, we are saying that if you are accepting money from the NRA, there’s a badge of shame on you because you are enabling things like this to happen.”

The group also appeared on ABC News, where Kasky declared that teens have had enough of inaction from adults. “We feel neglected,” he said. “And at this point, you’re either with us or against us.”

These high school kids understand more about gun violence and the dangerous element within the NRA than the Harvard-educated gun supporters.

Those like Ted Cruz and Rick Scott are on the losing side of this issue. At this point, they are too scared to even discuss the subject.

IMO cowardly. When communities are being killed and shot up, they won't tolerate the NRA bs anymore.

Too bad that all they are doing is parroting the left's political lines and positions, so they won't garner any more a solution or any more a constructive discussion than what has come before on those basis.

This position of "you’re either with us or against us" isn't going to lead to more solutions or constructive discussion, and in fact actually hinders them.

Also noted as false is the assumption that just because someone experienced those circumstances that they somehow have more expertise than people who have made careers in researching and studying these issues.

While I'm glad that these kids are going to be taking an active participation role in politics and public policy, I think they need to learn a lot more before taking this active participation role.

I wouldn't say they were parroting. They survived the incident, so they have every right to be outraged.

Especially when right-wing losers like Tomi Lahren thing guns aren't the issue.

These are "Face in the Phone" children with zero understanding of the issue except "guns are bad."

They're not just young, they're brainless twits.

They have the attention span of gnats and are just as significant.

They'll be back to Snapchiting each other about the latest fashion in a few days.

I think you're wrong.

I think they're wrong, too. But I think you're wrong about them.

I completely disagree.

The brainless twits exist in the NRA who keep saying crap like people kill people guns don't people.

One of the most idiotic arguments I hear is, "I don't care if more guns lead to higher suicides. You killing yourself has no bearing on my life."

Again, completely misguided. Do they realize these shooters kill other people before they commit suicide?

The day that someone takes tips from high school kids is the day they should lobotomize themselves.

The right to be outraged =/= knowing wth they are talking about. Emotion is a terrible premise for policy.

Didn't we go to war based on emotion? Either that or a complete lie.

Reminds my of the 'Children's Crusade' during the Christian Crusades eastward many of which never reached
the 'Holy Land' This will come to an abrupt & harmless end as did the 'Children's Crusade'

At what was not done about that "weird kid" in Floriduh after 39 LEO contacts yes, but not about the need for national gun bans or adding non-due process stuff to the federal NICS BGC database.

All they can do is talk, after all they are kids.

The Dems have a chance in these elections to take back some power, but start talking gun bans and infringing on peoples rights to own firearms, and watch those election results dwindle down greatly, never forget many Liberals also believe in the 2nd A and are gun owners. If you do not believe that explain why so few Dems are willing to push the gun banner agenda, they know that Gun Ownership, along with SS, are topics best avoided unless one is ready to lose their nice cushy jobs.

Nothing will change. Keep lining up those coffins.

They get a chance to meet with the President next week.

Trump is a supporter of gun control. He comes from New York. This is where action can happen.

You actually believe that don't ya? Trumps stand on issues shift with the wind, clue it is Congress that writes and passes Laws and they are not going to fulfill your dream.

If so it seems they have much in common with the "guns are good" brainless twits hyperfocused on threats to their "rights" and subservient to the NRA's talking points.

Maybe the guns had a bad childhood...

My guns haven't run off to kill anyone.

The difference being, application of logic, over emotion.

Logicly speaking, banning all guns won't prevent a single mass murder.

It is hard to see the NRA's talking points as "logical", and I think your statement that banning all guns wouldn't prevent a (one) single mass murder as completely illogical.

The hardline being maintained by our government was sure to erupt in a barrage of emotion. We will see who if anyone steps forward to mediate. It is long past due that this "issue" is addressed with intelligence and emotion, and that someone becomes the face of that attempt. Needless to say, politicians who have accepted millions of NRA dollars are not going to step up. I give the kids a lot of credit for pointing out our lack of caring, lack of action, lack of restraint, just our LACK.

My take is that these students and the adults behind them are asking Congress and the President, who believe that the 2nd Amendment through SCOTUS rulings like Miller and Heller protect ownership of these types of firerarms to ignore those Constitutional protections to save children's lives. They want to give Congress, headed by Mike Pence, the power to ignore Constitutional protections to save the lives of children.

Who are the only children the Republicans have ever passed laws, much less laws that would bypass the Constitution, to protect? The unborn. Be careful what you ask for. It might not be what you get.
