Sorry, but I just cannot seem to generate sympathy for an industry that cannot thrive without the past Presidential administration's efforts of enabling the Chinese government to steal our tech achievements, subsidize their own factories to flood the market with below market value produce and without the past Presidential administration's efforts to subsidize the installation of a product that just plain isn't economically mature enough to stand on its own.

It's typical that people will complain about the wrong thing, isn't it?

When our current President does the right thing by trying to punish the Chinese for their thievery and when that punishment causes the bottom to drop out of the immature industry, instead of doing what Americans do best in the world...innovate...some people would rather he had continued to prop up the failed industry with taxpayer dollars.

Sometimes I don't know which is worse: Abject Trump haters or economic idiots.

I know what's worse, cult trump and it's members that bitch about minor subsidiaries on green energy, and support the billions that we pay in oil and coal subsidies.

It it's actually more likely closer to 50 billion... depends on the way you measure it.

I was in the solar business for 5 years. Without tremendous government money, it isn't feasible. From the tax credits to the renewable energy credits, it's a huge scam...and they only work for about 20 years! I do have a solar array on my house, only because it was free!

The VOX article is pure propaganda, oil and coal do not have any subsidies in the US. Tax write offs are not subsidies, and tax write offs to provide resources to a welfare program are not subsidies as the average person would define the word subsidy

Oh please. Yes, there is some pollution caused by the making of the solar panels, but as soon as they are built they last several years without releasing any pollution. However, gas and coal must continuously pump out pollution. This whole 'solar energy pollutes' argument is ridiculous.

Fossil fuels are limited in supply. The Sun will be around for a couple more billion years. Yeah, solar is far more feasible.

The solar industry plays by the same rules as any other energy industry. You talk as if they get some sort of leg-up when fossil fuels have dominated energy and received subsidies, direct and indirect, for far longer.

That's ONE counter. Just an example of the fact that the sun doesn't always shine. Solar panels are extremely inefficient. Think about your little individual solar light in your driveway...they rarely work...give me low voltage electric lighting any day.

The US solar industry DID get a leg-up. Do you deny that?

Fossil fuels is irrelevant, but as I said...I am opposed to ALL government subsidies.

So we should remove the farm subsidies and the oil subsidies too??? It you make 50K a year, 4000 a year goes to corporate subsides from you in taxes.
