She's 7 and was born intersex.

Seen the movie "Shallow Hal". You'd understand.

Consistency? We're talking about genitals, not tails.

2 sidesteppers.

Color me doubly unshocked.

Should parents remove a child's tail?

It serves no purpose and it can cause problems.

Hooow can you possibly relate this to being LGBTI?

What Ice-T said about male genitalia.

Has the I replaced the Q? (Cannot make this stuff up...)

Anyhoo, the topic is self-determination.

Do parents make the choices, or adult children?

Is Ice-T now a medical professional? I didn't listen to what he said, so please inform me of what he said.

A vestigial growth or organ is removed when it causes problems. Is childhood eye problems or cancer also not treated because of self-determination?

I left off the Q. Do you think that I won't get in invite to next years Pride because of my supposed slight to those who might be questioning?

Well, he's no Josef Mengele... Castrate males at birth & solve most of society's problems.

By the adult child? Straw tumors.

Indeed you did. You're disinvited from mine! (j/k; you can even bring your sailboat.)

If you castrated males at birth there would be no society in 2-3 generations. The fact that it would be horrendously unconstitutional seems also be missing.

What is the upside of keeping the vestigial tail? Improved twerking ability?

I dont have a sailboat.

When they UNDERSTAND???? You didn't care about that when talking about gender dysphoria! Children DO NOT understand gender or gender identity. They can't be expected to make an intelligent decision about puberty blockers.

Waaah waaah!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I would so love to see that!

You could make a cool Zidane Tribal cosplay? :D

She's 7 and was born intersex. Why her parents elected to let her grow up without surgical intervention

She's 7 and was born intersex. Why her parents elected to let her grow up without surgical intervention - CNN

That was wrong for them to pressure them. Circumcision and intersex surgeries should be illegal. I have read testimonies from intersex adults and some of them wish their parents didn't consent to the surgeries because they felt more of the opposite sex than the doctors and parents decided.

Their gender identities and bodies should be left intact until they're old enough to make decisions.

There was an episode of "House" that addressed something very similar. An interesting conundrum. Don't know what I would do.

Maybe with parent's consent.

It should always be the kid's choice. The only right a parent has in the matter is deciding how to pay for a surgery that is not covered by health insurance.

BTW is the operation doctors want to do amputating her penis and totally removing her testicles, then widening her hips, removing the prostate, and making the urethra wider and shorter?

No idea. It appears that they want to remove her penis.

Details. More details.

Permitting self-determination at maturity. Possibly.

Bring your dinghy.

You are the broken record. How can you possibly KNOW this about gender dysphoric children? Medical science hasn't figured it out, so how did you?

Gender dysphoria often goes away. When it doesn't go away, it is labelled as transgenderism. So, by definition, transgenderism doesn't go away. But that is BY DEFINITION. Got it? I didn't think so.

Do you have a credible source to back up that statement?

Do you have a credible source to back up that statement?

She has it backward but she will never admit that she is wrong. This has been explained to her but you are better off talking to a brick than trying to have an intelligent discussion on this subject with her.

The Dutch approach on clinical management of both prepubertalchildren under the age of 12 and adolescents starting at age12 with gender dysphoria, starts with a thorough assessment of any vulnerable aspects of the youth’s functioning or circumstances and, when necessary, appropriate intervention. In children withgender dysphoria only, the general recommendation is watchfulwaiting and carefully observing how gender dysphoria developsin the first stages of puberty. Gender dysphoric adolescents can be considered eligible for puberty suppression and subsequent cross-sex hormones when they reach the age of 16 years. Currently, withholding physical medical interventions in these cases seems more harmful to wellbeing in both adolescence and adulthood when compared to cases where physical medical interventionswere provided.

Maybe you answered this somewhere I haven't read every post, but why should circumcision to a newborn be illegal?

The child didn't have a choice. There is no medical need for circumcision.
