In a meeting sponsored by the Catholic Women's Conference the negative consequences of the sexual revolution leading up to the #MeToo movement were reviewed.

The part I found least convincing was the idea that pornography produced an attitude in men that resulted in sexual aggression.

Yes, horn dogs like porn, and horn dogs are aggressive toward women, but does the one actually cause the other? It seems like the two are naturally going to go together. I don't know that any actual causation has ever been convincingly proved. Does anyone know otherwise?

Anyone who thinks real-world sex is anything like pornography likely has trouble distinguishing reality from fantasy in general and can safely be ignored.

I'd guess men who are getting laid regularly are the ones approaching women. They don't have much time for porn. Men into porn are, like a drug addict, controlling their ups and downs and they're maintaining satiation. It is those dependent on life for their ups and downs that approach women.

I expect most regular porn users are not the "horn dogs". Whether things go their way or not, they're good. No need for aggression.

The premise is wrong. Is it supported merely by reason or stats?

Slapping, hitting, pissing, women crying during sex, women held down or tied down and brutally ****ed, face ****ing.....I see these on Tumblr constantly.....it has been getting more frequent.

The mainline porn sites scrub out a lot of it however.

The younger generation is more at risk at thinking what's depicted in some porn videos is "normal". It needs to be reinforced with young men, especially that there must first be consent with every act and that sex is something to be enjoyed by all parties involved.

There is definitely an association between porn and sexual assault/aggression. That to the church marms is good enough to prove causation, but I have doubts.

The conservative view of human nature is that we are all rotten, and that without the civilizing influence of society we'd all be raping and murdering each other all of the time. Socialization makes peaceful society possible, but socialization has been undercut by a general attack on traditional values by liberals. Part of this attack was the so-called sexual revolution. Men increasingly are therefore poorly socialized and are therefore more likely to be sexually aggressive and prone to sexual assault, among other things. Pornography has as a de-civilizing and de-sensitizing influence on men who are already poorly socialized, resulting in heightened sexual aggression. (And here I'm about to convince myself of the thesis I started out questioning. ) In any case, the #MeToo movement is a rediscovery of these principles that resulted when progressive women ran smack up against the wall of unintended consequences. They are finding out that men are rotten. Yeah, no s***, sister. We've been saying that since forever. But it's not just men, it's everyone, and the #MeToo women are busy proving that as well, subjecting one man after another to professional death on the basis of little evidence and no process.
