JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Police in Jacksonville, Florida, have responded to a reported mass shooting at a video game tournament.

The shooting reportedly happened at a Madden NFL video game tournament. The tournament is being held at the Jacksonville Landing, a marketplace in the downtown section of Florida’s most populated city.

"Mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing. Stay far away from the area. The area is not safe at this time. STAY AWAY," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said on Twitter.

I was just there not too long ago. In fact, I was in the area yesterday as well. The Landings has been having an up and down image problem over the past decade or so. It isn’t really a secure area. And it is right on the water.

Heard the suspect is dead, Not sure if he/she is one of the four dead reported. Sad day for many families. I would gander a guess that many that play these as gamer's in contests are relatively young in age.
A parents greatest fear, losing a child.

The suspect appears to be dead as of JSO (Jax Sheriff) a few minutes ago. Good. Though I’d rather him be taken alive for experimentation. I mean questioning.

Wonder how long after the shooter started shooting before people realized it was 'real life' and not video game noise?

Depends on the video games I guess. Did it only have an NFL focus?

It has. It is kind of like a mall, but without being an actual mall. It has some nice places to eat and got some decent foot traffic. But it just isn’t what it used to be. What is? Sad. I hope they clear it fast.

Depends on the gun. It is pretty loud there from what I remember. But given the numbers? Not long.

Allegedly videos out of the shooting on YouTube from gamers. I don’t know if they are real. I watched one. Seems fake. They do live stream these though.

But, seriously, another day, another mass shooting. More families torn apart by senseless violence. My prayers go out to the victims.

This is awful. Mass shootings have become a way of life in America but this is the first we've had at an esports event. :(

Suspect, dead, as yet unnamed. One witness inside the Gaming Bar estimated at least 40 people in the Bar. Shooter, apparently one of the Gamers, looked pissed off... went up to the bar, pulled out a gun and started shooting. The witness estimated he heard 20 shots... too concerned with safety to see much, took refuge in a restroom.

After about 10 minutes, all seemed quiet. The witness left the restroom... and saw carnage and weeping people.

When it comes to 'senseless' violence, I guess most of us look at it that way but just like the 3 teens they just caught in TX planning a school attack, I want to know why and how that individual(s) came to that decision. So that we can learn and ID and track these POSs. (mentally ill tho some may be, I think most know right from wrong)

IMO much of our curiosity is based on making some sense of the senseless.

Well then it was a handgun. And sadly this will be about as much attention as it gets more than likely.
