CCN reported earlier today that Amazon had scrapped the spacious campus it had planned to build in Long Island City, Queens, which would have created roughly 25,000 well-paying jobs. The residual job creation was estimated to be an additional 67,000 jobs.

U.S. House Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other New York politicians just chased off 25,000 Amazon jobs that could have created salaries of at least $115,000 jobs each. Unfazed and stunningly arrogant, these politicians are taking a victory lap following their dubious success.

That tiny nickel head thinks the $3 billion in tax incentives for Amazon is actually readily available money she can now use on her unilateral wet dreams.

"If we were willing to give away away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest $3 billion in our district ourselves if we want to. We could hire more teachers, we can fix our subways, we can put a lot of people to work for that money if we wanted to," Ocasio-Cortez told reporters. I love AOC. Almost for reasons just like this reaction. She is quickly becoming my favorite current politician! I am getting a little more concerned every day that we might lose her before too long.

The $50 trillion Green New Deal was a wet dream of epic proportions. The fact that she is convinced the DOD has $21 trillion sitting in the basement somewhere was a short bus special. But now cheering that 25,000 jobs in her great city/state were chased off might be a little hard to sneak by. Especially considering 70% of New Yorkers really really wanted that business there.

She literally has a degree in economics (and international relations fwiw).

I just hope we can keep her in office and in front of the cameras for a long time to come. She's a breath of fresh air.

I would love to land on AOC with both feet for her position regarding Amazon pulling out of its NY deal. However the Amazon statement regarding pulling out is dripping with messaging. it more than suggests that while Amazon had signed onto the deal, that it really was not satisfied with it and would have pulled NY into that deal demanding further concessions once NY had already committed and made expenditures. If you have a deal, why do you have to work additionally on the deal Amazon? Work with whom?

IMO, Amazon would have started NY down the path of investments and half built infrastructure and then demanded more financial input from NY to get over the finish line, basically bending NY over the desk. It looks to me like Amazon determined that it did not have NY where they wanted them, bent over, a willing particpant accepting the invading member.

I don't know why AOC is celebrating. There is nothing here to celebrate. AOC's complaints are IMO half baked. I would be landing on her with both feet were it not for the Amazon statement on their way out the door. You had a deal Amazon. Whining about local residents because they are not just cleaning your shoes with their tongues makes no sense unless their concerns suggest to the company that they would have not been able to bend NY over the desk once they got into the expenditures for this project.

It all could have been handled better particularly in the public domain. But Amazon is hardly clean in this debacle IMO.

Bottom line: 20,000+ well-paying jobs, and everything that would produce are GOOD or BAD?

The TAX INCENTIVES are NOT EXISTING REVENUES, BEING TAKEN AND RE-ALLOCATED, as "DITZIO-CORTEZ" and the rest of the LOW-INFO opponents of the Amazon complex seem to DELUDE.

They are monies THAT ALREADY DO NOT EXIST, so NOTHING IS BEING "TAKEN AWAY", while the 20,000 + JOBS, all the additional commerce and the taxes that would entail, including but not limited to, LOCAL TAXES, an EXPLOSION in LOCAL RETAIL, HOUSING (both sales and rentals) and the TAX REVENUES THERE, etc., etc. HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED from EXISTING.


DITZIO-CORTEZ just played a big role in CANCELLING ALL OF THAT, in the name of TAX REVENUES THAT ALREADY DO NOT EXIST.


She is a FLAMING IDIOT, and is what happens when emotion-based voters elect a PART TIME BARTENDER to determine GOVERNMENT POLICY.
