The Central Committee of the ruling Workers’ Party has decreed that North Korea will not relinquish its nuclear arsenal, which it termed a “precious legacy” of the country’s late leaders, according to local sources, despite an earlier pledge by party chairman Kim Jong Un to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

Kim held historic talks with South Korea’s Moon Jae-in in April, as well as an unprecedented summit with U.S. President Donald Trump in June, and agreed—in principle—to abandoning the North’s nuclear weapons program in exchange for promises of regime security and economic prosperity.

Whoops, Trumpy.

At least he tried. What'd Obama do?

another Obama deflection to avoid addressing Trump's failures in the N.K. gaffe (do like the comment at bottom though..I can relate! :)

So while I think it is interesting that this discussion even takes place in NK and I appreciate the link, here is the wall that nobody from our side will be able to get over. Its the same wall I mentioned months ago that NK verified eventually in its statements.

NK considered denuclearization on the peninsula to mean EVERYTHING on the peninsula and everything in the surrounding oceans and other places that can reach the peninsula that are both tactical and strategic meaning nuclear assets that can be repurposed virtually real time as opposed to our US based nuclear missiles which are truly strategic in nature. That means our nuclear subs for one thing and our forward air bases for another. That is a standard we can't meet! We can't pull our nuclear subs far enough off the peninsula to meet that standard because those subs are tasked with theater-wide tactical and strategic responsibilities. Those bombers are tasked with theater-wde tactical and strategic responsibilities and we can't move them far enough off the peninsula to meet that standard either. On that score alone the entire affair in Singapore was all THEATER! That is not the only one that pegs that mess in Singapore as theater but it is a big one because it points to a standard that KJU insists upon that WE cannot meet, never mind the standards that KJU won't meet.

No wonder Pompeo on Wednesday in Senate Hearing admitted that he has made no progress in denuclearization talks with NK and that NK continues to manufacture fissionable material and thus continues its nuclear program.

Game, Set and Match Trumpy.

What's to address? He failed. Has no other President in history failed before? But at least he tried. Obama didn't do crap.

Can blowing brutal dictator and enemy of America Kim Jong Un on live TV really count as "trying" to get them to give up nukes? Making an ass out of the United States while the world watches on is not helping. This was always about PR for Trump, never about a serious attempt to settle a complex geopolitical problem.

Sometimes 'not doing crap' is a good thing Kal..case in point...Trump has pissed off most of our best, long term allies, kissed Putin's behind, and lied 1000's of times to the American populace. He also had affairs, tried to talk Marla Maples into aborting his daughter Tiffany according to Maples in an interview, and is on audio tape as stating he can molest women's private parts at will because 'he is a celebrity.".This is 'crap' moral, enlightened, qualified Presidents do NOT do.

LOL!!

He eats babies for breakfast, too...right?

As for the sanctions, countries have been breaking the sanctions regimen almost from the minute it was defined. Nobody knows more about busting sanctions than NK. They almost know more about duping US Presidents than anybody else....that is if you don't count Putin, Xi, along with just about any Asian national leader you can think about.....

I don't see the article in the OP proves efforts in NK have failed. This morning it was reported that the remains of 55 fallen soldiers from the Korean war will be headed home as early as Friday.
That was part of the agreement. There hasn't been a firing of any missiles for months another part of the agreement . There has been movement in taking down launch cites another part of the agreement. There have been three Americans imprisoned in NK that were returned a couple of months ago. That doesn't sound like failure to me. This situation isn't going to be solved quickly and there is going to be bumps in the road along the way. I would think everyone would want to see this endeavor succeed. But evidently not.

1-Nothing is ever over til its over. There are ongoing negotiations and when you are an impoverished country dependent on other countries for your very survival, never truly means never.
2-Perhaps it doesnt work in the end. Perhaps NK truly wont end their program and the peace accord fails. Thats a possibility.
3-There are some twisted, sick ****ers on this planet that will gleefully celebrate the potential failure of an attempt at peace. Sick. Demented. Grotesque.

Seem to be forgetting that Trump already declared victory. Trumpian BS as usual.

According to Trump, its all over. Nothing to see here. I bet there will be plenty to see in Nov in spite of Trump not being a candidate in Nov.

Yet he's made as much progress as them, which isn't the problem since you can't understand what that is. The problem is he falsely claimed he'd solved the problem, like he falsely claims a lot of things.

He thought he had. Even S. Korea thought that Trump had made progress. Is it really false if at the time it was said it was believed to be true? Was Trump wrong, yes. Was it false for him to say it at the time? I don't think so. Because at the time he said it he thought it was true.

At least he tried. What'd Obama do?

Obama didnt give Kim Jung Un a summit and a sweet propaganda video for NK state TV, nor did he cancel scheduled war games and call Kim a good person... lol

Did you really expect Trump, or anyone for that matter, to go to the negotiating table spewing ad homs?

Based off what? His imaginary contract was proven wrong. His assertions of certain actions being done was wrong. Even after North Korea stated THE REALITY of the situation he held onto his baseless assertions. I don't care whether he believed all of that or not, disbelief is not a prerequisite of a lie. Adamantly saying things that are false is a lie. Trump is a L-I-A-R and there is no defense that you can come up with that can debunk that fact.

“If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!” -Trump

More "truth". :lamo
