[h=1]Mueller complained that Barr’s letter did not capture ‘context’ of Trump probe[/h]https://wapo.st/2PGoHkz?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.c842c2a7a6d4

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of Mueller’s work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.
At the time the letter was sent on March 27, Barr had announced that Mueller had not found a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian officials seeking to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Barr also said Mueller had not reached a conclusion about whether Trump had tried to obstruct justice, but Barr reviewed the evidence and found it insufficient to support such a charge.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not going to bode well for William Barr. Robert Mueller will have to be called to appear before Congress, that's a sure thing now.

From Mueller's letter to Barr:

“The summary letter the Department sent to Congress and released to the public late in the afternoon of March 24 did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions. There is now public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation. This threatens to undermine a central purpose for which the Department appointed the Special Counsel: to assure full public confidence in the outcome of the investigations.”

Which was, of course, Barr's intent. And he succeeded, having given Trump's base a false narrative they can parrot over and over and over again, regardless of how perfectly that narrative is in direct contrast to Mueller's own words.

I hope mueller goes before congress ASAP. Barr should seriously resign. Or be impeached. Appalling! Dems need to step it up

As Barr made excruciatingly clear during his confirmation hearing, he's too old and far along in his career to worry about his reputation. He made Democrats thing he was saying one thing, when in fact he was saying something entirely different. Barr is an expert at creating perfect deception without telling a lie, which makes him arguably the most dangerous person in the Trump administration right now.

Edit: ooooh, Mycroft, I see you're about to make a post. You missed being the second or third person to fart up a Trump discussion as usual. Better luck next time!

Mueller is correct. Barr recognized Mueller's intent, which was to create maximum nonsense for the media and the Congressional Dems to use. Barr negated that nonsense and summarized the report to it's fundamental findings...which is what really matters.

But hey, we found something out about that war hero Mueller...he sure is a whiny bitch.

Hogwash, Mueller had the chance to make a complete accusation or to issue an indictment and he did not do either. Just more democrat hype because they lost the presidential election, hate Trump and it looks like they may be investigated themselves. All this in addition to the coming IG investigation of the FISA warrants.

Well, well, well, imagine that, mr. barr has not been exactly accurate as to what the mueller report reported. This is the party of law and order and personal responsibility and after trump wins the next election the GOP will also be the party of health care. Everything and everyone trump touches turns into crap.

Oh blah-blah-blah-blah-blah. There's NOBODY more patriotic or dedicated to this country than Robert Mueller. William Barr on the other hand interviewed a year ago to be Trump's personal White House lawyer, so of COURSE he's biased and partisan. William Barr may just be impeached too if he doesn't end up in jail for obstruction also.

LOL!!

You are the one who mentioned Trump...not I. And I don't need to compete with you or anyone else. Let's face it...Trump hating nonsense simply cannot compete with facts.

Oh. So now patriotism means it's okay to concoct charges against people...threaten them with worse charges if they don't plead guilty...try to entrap them by getting a foreigner to give them money...etc.

Sorry, our country was not established with such immorality as its basis.

I'd say the only thing Mueller was dedicated to was supplying maximum nonsense to be used against Trump.

Btw, I too will be very interested to hear how Mueller characterizes his reaction to Barr's handling of the report during his testimony. Remember that this is a guy who flicks the lights on and off to make people leave his dinner parties.

I'm actually completely uninterested in Barr's testimony. There's no way he's going to say anything useful during his hearing.

Are you suggesting that Mueller, Barr or anyone else could have written a summary that would not have resulted in "confusion"?

Mueller did not present a conclusion or a recommendation with regard to obstruction. Mueller did not refer anyone for charges related to conspiracy and, in fact, stated that no conspiracy occurred.

Face it, the only report that Democrats would have accepted would have been if Mueller found Trump guilty on all counts plus a few hundred more. Anything less than that was going to result in "confusion".

The confusion you're repeating here was the gift of Barr, which was of course Barr's intent.

Nobody who's actually read the report is confused in precisely the way that you are right now. Those who took Barr's letter to heart, however, are very confused.

Yes I watched that confirmation hearing and I never trusted Barr. He rubbed me the wrong way the second he opened his mouth!

The reason he doesn't want Congressional counsel to follow up on the House Reps' questions is because he knows they'll see right through his answers.

Since the WaPo hasn't released the letter I can only go off what has been reported. Here's an excerpt from an MSN News article - Mueller complained that Barr’s letter did not capture ‘context’ of Trump probe
A day after the letter was sent, Barr and Mueller spoke by phone for about 15 minutes, according to law enforcement officials.

In that call, Mueller said he was concerned that news coverage of the obstruction investigation was misguided and creating public misunderstandings about the office’s work, according to Justice Department officials.

When Barr pressed him whether he thought Barr’s letter was inaccurate, Mueller said he did not, but felt that the media coverage of the letter was misinterpreting the investigation, officials said.

In their call, Barr also took issue with Mueller calling his letter a “summary,” saying he had never meant his letter to summarize the voluminous report, but instead provide an account of the top conclusions, officials said.

I highlighted the salient part and that makes the "disagreement" out to be something dramatically different than what I'm hearing on CNN and MSNBC.

Maybe he tried, but mueller is not the type of guy to overstep boundaries, clearly. I wouldn’t be surprised if he recommended it and Barr said nope nope nopity nope. Don’t you see here what’s going on? COVER. UP.

ROFL. Now what are all those Trump apologists gonna say?

No. Barr should be going to jail. Blatant misinterpretation with the goal to obstruct.

Yes, as I said, Barr is expert at creating deception without telling a lie, which is how Barr was able to pull the wool over everybody's eyes...lawyers included!...about the reason for why Mueller did not conclude a crime in the case of obstruction of justice. Barr still has you confused, which was of course his purpose: to keep Trump's base confused so they would just assume that Mueller's report is uninteresting and moot legalese.

It doesn't help your argument when you inject it with hyperbolic nonsense. "NOBODY more patriotic and dedicated to this country than Robert Mueller"....

:2rofll:

Mountain out of molehill being made here.

So Barr didn't summarize Mueller's report exactly like Mueller wanted it. Big ****ing whoop.

Who got hurt from it? No one! (except maybe the Dems, who suffered a major case of Butthurt)
What law was broken? I'm not seeing any!

Can we please move on with life? Damn!

Mueller's team did write a summary. Barr ignored it and opted to make a fake summary to instil as much confusion as possible.

Exhonerated my ass.

No conspiracy whatsoever, and no clear case of obstruction.

No. Because trump and his cronies and his supporters are undermining trust in our judicial and constitutional process.

Barr is a lackey and anyone who supports this potus is mislead.
