Looks like Ryan has gathered enough support to get Trump's garbage ACHA to a vote. No worries though, the bill will be DOA at the Senate.

So why schedule a vote? Many Republicans are running scared of the mid-terms and Trump badly needs a "pseudo" legislative win to brag about for a while. Then as usual, reality will sit in and Washington will again hand Trump's lying arse on a platter.

Congress will head home in a few weeks for Memorial Day. Both sides want some feathers in their hats at BBQ fundraising events.

Pocket Books will be more open if congressional leeches can point to this is what I did to Stop/Pass the Bill, now give me more money so I can keep up the good work

The GOP has scheduled Congress to be off all NEXT week .

It's a ****e bill that keeps getting worse by the minute.

Kills Medicaid Expansion, decreases subsidies dramatically, destroys Medicaid system, making it damn near impossible for states to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, No EHB protections, clearly violating Mental Health parity laws, waivers for covering pre-existing conditions, 8 billion dollar buy-out to make states drop pre-existing coverage, to then throw them into a pit of massively under-funded, and historically proven ****e storms known as high risk pools...

Oh, and increases the federal deficit.

Good on you GOP, good on you.

I mean, seriously. For all of the talk about the ACA imploding, you have to admit this is some serious Michael Bay....No, Dresden-level bombing campaign the House GOP is unleashing on America's Healthcare System.

You could literally repeal the ACA and not do a damn thing more and still come out in better shape than this ****ing bill.

ok well that explains why the sudden push.

This bill hammers deep red states. Ryan and trump gave in to the tea party freedom caucus. It's about giving trump a short-lived win, not a win for trump voters.

I'm looking forward to seeing whether there is further election blowback on the GOP 5/25 and 6/20 in deep red special elections that DEMs are challenging in .

So why schedule a vote?

Are you suggesting that voting on a bill that had 17% approval among the public before the GOP made it worse is bad politics? Clearly you just don't understand the genius of Paul Ryan.

Yet another Congressional recess. So soon after their Easter break. These folks are simply unbelievable in their vanity.

Now, with respect to the AHCA. The new changes that have been added to get votes have NOT been scored by the OMG, so we don't know exactly what the ramifications are yet.

That said, the Republicans did learn one thing from their failed first attempt at passage: Vote on it BEFORE it gets scored..............lol

I'm gonna go ahead and pencil you in for a 'does not approve'.

Vote on it BEFORE it gets scored..............lol

That seems to be the logic, though I'll admit I don't get it.

It acknowledges that the score is going to be bad (really bad), which is why they're rushing the vote to get it through the House before the score comes out. But this doesn't then go away. They're going on record for it and then it'll come out how truly terrible the thing they voted for actually is (and remember, it was already intensely unpopular before they amended it to strip the thing literally everyone supports). And then the next election will happen sometime after that.

They're moving too quickly to even game out and think through a coherent strategy. You don't see anything like this very often.

Eric Cantor laid the groundwork for the GOP obstruction and false equivalency 11/4/2008 .

Damn. I thought I was subtle.

Yep, add another house bill to mess with PPACA to the list of republicant "accomplishments" knowing that the Senate will either totally rewrite it or trash it completely. Trump will say that while it is not perfect it is basically what he wants (but in TrumpSpeak).

Adding to the list of horse dung Trump says contradicting himself.

Yet reporting that is called fake news. ;)

With that: he really reminds me of a parent desperately trying to sound hip by adopting their teen's slang and failing miserably in the process.

The objective is very clear:

* Trump needs a win very badly.
* R's need to say that they repealed and replaced Obamacare but kept pre-existing conditions. Which in itself is a modification of Obamacare and not a repeal. The House R's also want this off of their plate and know that the senate will try and fix their "hurry up" mess of a bill.

It was a rhetorical question.....lol

Remember that Trump has already said that Ryan would not be a genius if he ever went against Trump.

Trump's ideas of winning seem more focused on optics.

I'm starting to wonder if the GOP is doing this with the intentions of losing power. It's almost as if they want to purposely screw up and hand future elections to the Democrats.

Wait...it gets even worse.

Upton amendment produces fiscal incentive for states to kick off those with pre-existing conditions with an 8 billion dollar buy-out ***sold on the presumption that it fund high risk pools***---which is about 192 billion dollars short of what would be needed.

Guess what?

States may not even have to spend that 8 billion on the high risk pools.

Kick off the sick, get financially rewarded for it, give even more money to the already healthy.

*knee slapper.

Oh my lord this Party.

Everything Upton does is with an eye for running for the Michigan senate seat next year .

More and more, Conservative Republicans are showing just how uncaring they are and how important being a social elitist really is to them.

* R's need to say that they repealed and replaced Obamacare but kept pre-existing conditions.

Which this bill doesn't do. Again, they've taken a bill that only 17% of the public liked, and they've further stripped pre-existing condition protections and expanded it to go after employer-based coverage (which previously was safe from the GOP). Passing this wouldn't be a win--beyond maybe one 24-hour news cycle--it would be a rolling calamity. Which is why the lemming-like behavior of the caucus is puzzling.
