Los Angeles mayor authorizes city to shut off utilities to homes hosting large parties

Los Angeles will shut off utilities at “COVID party houses.”

The mayor of LA has authorized water and power to be shut off for people having "large" get togethers as a way to combat the spread of Covid. To my knowledge he has not defined what "large" actually means in terms of numbers wise. The articles give more information on his plan.

So do you support the mayor and his decision to cut services or do you think the mayor has overstepped his authority?

do not gather in crowds during a pandemic.

Good for the mayor.

I'd vote for much more harsh actions to be taken.

Gov. Cuomo should do that to the Hamptons.

Nightclubs flicker the lights on and off to give party goers the message that it's time to go home. This is merely the mayor's version of that.

In your opinion what kinds of actions should be taken?

Detain them all for 14 days. Don't release them until they test negative twice for C19. Take away their social media for a year. If they are caught again at a public gathering or without a mask, caine them 3 times a day for a week. This should hold true for all gatherings including protests.

And Senators funerals?

If the late Senators are black, twice the punishment.

The color should be irrelevant, however is gatherings in crowds are bad then gathering in crowds should be bad equally instead of this crowd ok that crowd gets in trouble.

Being you couldn't help yourself injecting race into the conversation let's explore how this policy can be abused. Without the mayor defining what "large" actually is allows a police force that has a long history of troubled race relations to enforce it at will. Ten white people at a cookout is a small gathering but 7 Aferican Americans or LatinX at a cookout needs to have utilities disconnected because of its size.

It won't be long before the denizens of LA are made to wear a little yellow star on their shirts.
The mayor is a Nazi.

Societies tend to have the rule of law. Good ones also tend to allow for a good amount of free speech.

So this mayor will cut off service of various kinds to partygoers who violate covid-based rules, and Trump supporters are free to whine and squeal about it like stuck pigs from under their beds. We get to laugh. Who doesn't win? They've got their daily rage porn, so they're happy, as long as they don't forget to yell about tyranny the next time they have to wear a mask while buying their peach-flavored wine coolers.

In the case of LA they are targeting those who are trying to beat the system by renting out homes and basically turning it into a bar. They're not targeting a group of people having a cookout.

Lets use some common sense.

Yes let’s use some common sense and have the mayor define what a “large” gathering is. People will do what they want no matter what. Prohibition and the War on drugs have proven that. This mayor is pissing into the wind and his supporters are applauding the yellow rain.

Here is the thing though. If you were first there, there was no crowd. If you see others show up, do you depart or tell them to depart?

Who does the mayor think he is kidding. He is targeting the Mexicans who live there and love to party.

Will you supply the forum with quotes by the mayor saying what you say ^^^^^^^^^^^ please?

When will Democrats demand the Mayor back up his claims with solid science. As they try to pull on Trump daily?

The La mayor appears to me a long time resident of CA to be targeting the Mexicans that live there.

don't go where there might be a crowd unless you absolutely have to.
