From the Washington Times:

A Yale University classmate of Judge Brett Kavanaugh is refusing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee about her charges of sexual misconduct against him, a panel member said Tuesday.

Sen. John Kennedy, Louisiana Republican and a panel member, told a gaggle of reporters that a lawyer for Deborah Ramirez told him that she already has told her story to the press.

“Our counsel repeatedly tried to reach him,” Mr. Kennedy said. “They finally did reach him, and he said we are not issuing a statement. He said if you want our statement, read the New Yorker.” https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/sep/25/deborah-ramirez-brett-kavanaugh-accuser-wont-testi/

So that's that. The Committee will have to rely on a magazine article rather than hear from Ms. Ramirez herself.

Ronan Farrow stands by his reporting and says he has corroborating witnesses on the record and those willing to testify under threat of perjury. Lying to the FBI is a crime.

How is that different than the Committee relying on a book instead of Judge himself?

Of course, the committee could always ask the president to request an FBI investigation. So why won't they?

Well, of course, he stands by it. What do you expect him to say? That he should have found corroborating witnesses? You know, have done a little more thorough investigative reporting?

So pretty much she is a liar and would should forget all about her?

Now isn't this interesting? Her lawyer was just on CNN claiming the GOP Committee members are blowing him off, not returning his calls, and the only peeps that answer the phone are the minority party members (Dems). I saw him myself, and watched the whole segment. Yow!

John Clune, the attorney for the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of exposing himself to her when they were in college, said only Democrats showed up for a phone call they had scheduled with Senate Judiciary Committee staff earlier Tuesday.

He claims he's trying to get her before the committee.

Sounds to me like testifying under oath is a rather large impediment for these people.

Actually that's exactly what he said. So........... He's combating the people like you who are doing nothing but spreading doubt. Even as stuff gets updated I've seen people claim it's fake news. The magazines just making it up as they go along, when not even in the same thoughts do they realize that Kavanaugh has changed his story four times and the most egregious of all was on the record.

The GOM have already denied the FBI investigations for both women... I would not be surprised if they aren't taking their questions anymore.

I saw the segment as well. Seems like they just want to hear from Ford, state she has no believable statements and then pretend Ramirez (or anyone else) doesn't exist.

If the lawyer's story is legit.

I'm lost by this. I can't access the OP article through the paywall, but it seems we have a clear case of 'yes-no', 'black-white', 'up-down'! :doh

I have no idea what to make of it ...

This the fake news Washington Times not the Washington Post. As far as I'm aware. They don't have a paywall.

I just watched a Rachel Maddow interview where Ramirez's attorney said he'd spent days trying to set up a telephone conference call with the Judiciary Committee; when he finally got through today, only minority party democrats were on the phone, no members of the GOP.

The GOP is lying if it says Ramirez doesn't want to testify; she does, and she wants an FBI investigation into her allegations as well.

I'm lost by this, not knowing her lawyer or his rep. But he did come across as reasonably credible. If true, then he's got to really blitz the media.

But I'm not sure it will work. The core (now Trump) GOP don't follow or trust mainstream media. The won't follow or believe MSNBC, CNN, or the networks. They've got Fox, Breitbart, Drudge, Hannity, and Limbaugh. And I wouldn't expect these last outlets to embrace her lawyer or give him a platform. So there's no impetus for the GOP to act upon Ms. Rameriz.

At this point so much has come out, from Kavanaugh's ex roommate to Mark Judge's college girlfriend to the horror of the Georgetown Prep yearbook, that the GOP are going to go straight to vote, knowing that it will be almost impossible in a future democratic-controlled congress to reopen this can of worms, do a proper investigation, and impeach a Supreme Court Justice for only the second time in history.

We're still stuck with Thomas, aren't we? *sigh* This is why I hate having all three branches of government controlled by a single party, and have mix/matched my votes over the decades to avoid it. :(

She's not even sure if it was Kavanaugh. Why should she be listened to by this committee?

You know I love political analysis, and a big part of that is predicting. You and a few others recently called me out for predicting Kavanaugh wouldn't make it, and I've got to admit you guys made great arguments. Well, I might (sadly) have to eat my words here. I hope not. Even with a ringer prosecutor going after her Thursday, there is the possibility she does an emotive, poignant, and relate-able narrative that is substantively moving.

How is that different than the Committee relying on a book instead of Judge himself?

What book? Are you referring to Judge's book Wasted? Why do you think that the Committee members have even read this book, much less that they're going to "rely" on it?

We knew her story was bad from the momment it came out.
so she can be dismissed.

The New Yorker report was a train wreck that throughly debunked her claims.
plus as Grassley told feinstein. There is no law lying to the media there is laws against lying to congress.

actually he did if you read the article it is filled with we talked to people and no one could confirm this and no one could confirm that.
we could not confirm that kavanaugh was actually there but we printed it anyway because we are liberal hacks.

there is a reason that even the NYT is calling it a piece of trash article that never should have been printed.

THis is the latest report that i have found. This Clune guy is a joke.

Clune contacted Republican Senate aides this week about his client testifying but the GOP asked for written details from Ramirez about any witnesses or evidence before they speak on the phone. Clune wants to talk before handing anything over.

So he is lying when he says that no one showed up or talked on the phone.

then the biggest elephant in the room is this.

Ramirez has admitted that she doesn't remember all the details from the night in question and reportedly said she can't be absolutely sure it was Kavanaugh who exposed himself to her.

this idiot thinks that helps her case?
seriously? no it doesn't it completely destroys her case.
