Feinstein on Kavanaugh Accusation: ‘I Can’t Say Everything is Truthful’


Senator Dianne Feinstein of California conceded Tuesday that she can’t attest to the veracity of Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school.

“[Ford] is a woman that has been, I think, profoundly impacted. On this . . . I can’t say that everything is truthful. I don’t know,” Feinstein told reporters on Capitol Hill when asked if she believed the allegation.

Feinstein, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, has been maligned by her Republican colleagues for failing to disclose the sexual-harassment accusation after initially being made aware of it via a letter from Ford in July.

Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley has scheduled a public hearing for Monday and invited Kavanaugh and his accuser to testify. Kavanaugh has accepted the invitation while Ford has been unresponsive, despite her attorney’s previous statement that she would be willing to defend her allegation under oath.

Grassley indicated Thursday morning that he would cancel the hearing if Ford were to refuse to testify and a number of fellow Republicans, including Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona, have said they would support Kavanaugh’s confirmation if his accuser won’t testify.~

This was entirely, transparently, orchestrated by Feinstein and staff to delay the confirmation, as if they could pull something to change the game out of their collective butts to change the inevitable results with some additional time. Yes, she wasn't there, but more pertinent, it was always a false accusation. It isn't an issue of "I Can’t Say Everything is Truthful" but one of "I Can’t Say Anything is Truthful."

In two short years is the next presidential election. We should wait to let the American people can voice their opinion before we approve any more Supreme Court nominees.

Most American people wouldn't know one justice compared to another at any given time, before or after an appointment.

Frankly I have no faith whatsoever in that geriatric crowd in the middle of the Senate Judiciary Panel. They are all a screaming disaster of age induced decay...every one of them from Grassley and Hatch on one side to Feinstein and Leahy on the other. These Senate panels are run by staff. Funny how the Right moans and groans about the DEEEEP STAAAATE while willingly allowing a bunch of crusty old fools to sit there like stumps while their staffs actually run things. Then you get to Cornyn and Durbin who take full advantage of the circumstance that nobody in the middle of the panel is actually awake! Past those 6 Senators, you actually find Senators that might be worth the time of day.
