I'm in the process of reading Bob Woodward's Fear: Trump in the White House and I'm going to predict that as soon as Trump is out of office there is going to be a flood of tell-all books about this presidency. I'm not talking about the reporters Outsider-Looking-In books that have so far appeared, but rather books by people who were in the room, people who lived first-hand the nightmare known as the Trump presidency.

So many people have already left this administration, either voluntarily or otherwise, you might ask "Why haven't their books already appeared?" Some have, but I would suggest that many of them fear what this unhinged man might do in retaliation as president. Once Trump is out of office, his ability to wreak havoc on their lives will be greatly diminished.

If even half of what has been disclosed so far is even remotely accurate, I'm looking forward to hearing from people like General Kelly, General Mattis, Rex Tillerson, and others.

Much of story has played out in public.

Sure there will be more books, supply and demand. There are plenty of TDS out there, dying to read dirt on trump as you have demonstrated. And there are plenty who know how to take advantage of golden opportunity.

So you presuppose that Tillerson, Mattis, etal. will be authoring packs of lies? These "best people" are incapable of telling the truth?

Its all about the money. Deal brokers set insiders up with ghost writers to interview the “author”, then bang out a million copies of a book the “author” never read, and everyone makes money. Trump is good for the TDS industry, too.

Now with electronic books, you don’t even have a pulp cost. It’s pure speculation with a relatively small downside.

here's my pre-reading cliffs notes summary of all of the books :

he's a corrupt scumbag with a room temp IQ who is both unfit for office and a national embarrassment.

If those forthcoming books cite actual sources...you know, sources that can be asked if they really said those things...then I say, bring them on.

But if those forthcoming books are more of the "someone told me that someone told them that someone said something", then those books will be no more believable than Woodward's book. They'll be nothing but rumors.

Exactly. Is there really anything going on in this White House that we havent already heard?
Right? It's only the most transparent administration in history.

We Will likely not know everything, he has loyal henchmen who I think will never reveal the truth. They'll maybe write a book that tries to romanticize and capitalize off of this circus. I don't imagine after he is out of office, that I will want to reserve enough mental space to read another book on Trump. I'll just get the important revelations from the news, which will bear out eventually what is fact and what is not.

And my question to these insider tell all authors will be, "Since you saw all that, why didn't you do anything about it at the time?"

Pretty stupid question.

How would we know that we haven't heard something?

I'm talking about the firsthand accounts. People who were involved directly. No 'sources' needed.

The wonderful, completely unbiased MSM news sources just need to give us more of those really accurate "undisclosed sources" stories. Their credibility skyrocketed with every one of them. :lamo

And my question to these insider tell all authors will be, "Since you saw all that, why didn't you do anything about it at the time?"

And two of the answers will be, that one, there are limits to what they can do to a president, and two, that it wasn't in their interest as the sort of people who could be made insiders, to declare war on the Republican Party by exposing its corruption. You're asking for a lot of selfless integrity from the sort of people largely who do not have that. But it's a good question anyway.

Actually, according to Woodward's book, many people tried to do something, but the president was unhinged. He would sit in meetings with the JCS at the Pentagon and berate the generals unmercifully. He would do the same to his cabinet. Sometimes he would declare defiant orders only to completely forget about the order by the next day. Many times he would have meetings to rehash issues that everyone else had thought had been decided. They called them "Groundhog meetings." He would call in acknowledged experts who would lay out the facts of a given situation and Trump would rage "I don't want to hear that!"

Numerous people in the administration have either been dismissed or resigned because they were completely flummoxed by their relationship with Trump. Sometimes they were forced out because of their dysfunctional relationship with someone like Ivanka Trump.

I'm not. This history is still being made. The next literary step will require some time in order to build some historical context to have any merit IMO. At this point how would that be any different than Omarosa DingDong and her stupid tapes and tell all sleepover videos?

Tillerson has TDS ? All because he nailed Trump correctly, the man is a moron.

So eyewitness accounts have no merit?

Many on here complain about "unnamed sources" claiming it to be "fake news." What are they gonna do when the firsthand accounts start confirming the "fake news"? They'll have no choice but to call the president's "best people" liars. Trump hired a bunch of disloyal liars.

Doesn't matter. Internet Forum complaints matter least of all. What matters is what this administration does and says officially. Not what happens in some back room or in the men's lav. Actually Trump has made it so that "official statements" by the WH no longer matter.

Frankly I think the tell all craze done without the benefit of some time and context simply plays to prurient interests. How is a book by what should be or could be a "fact witness" written outside an oath taken to tell the truth supposed to mean anything. I thought Comey's book was crap. Omarosa's junk was crap. They are not journalists but could be fact witnesses.

What do you expect to learn from these tell alls....that the WH is a nuthouse? Isn't it obvious? You have a President tweeting nonsense and literal guttural garbage as many times as 20 times a day. You have a West Wing that is utterly neutered. There is literally no reason to pay any attention to a single thing that Sara Sanders or KellyAnn say or anybody coming out of that Comm shop says or releases as official WH statements. They have been rendered entirely irrelevant. Trump uses them as pawns tossed out onto the lawn of the WH to rationalize and justify nonsense. He has gone from a cabinet full of corrupt goons to a cabinet full of "actings" because he "likes actings". Thats not crazy enough for you?

Here I got another one then. Trump has been an utter and complete FAILURE on his terms. His campaign deliverable was a resolution to Unauthorized Immigration, curtailing and dealing with Asylum Seekers and Border Security. He and his ghoulish base made THE WALL a symbol for that. But the WALL is not a deliverable. Resolution to Unauthorized Immigration, an efficient means of curtailing and dealing with Asylum Seekers and Border Security are the deliverables.

Trump has FAILED. He has failed in epic fashion. His policy of punishing Asylum Seekers has Failed utterly. He has ratcheted up the punishment both in the Northern Triangle and at our borders and it has failed completely to stem the tide. Instead the tide has risen and markedly so. From virtually the time Trump took office to today the numbers Unauthorized, mainly Asylum Seekers and in the main families has gone through the ceiling. Just go look at the numbers. Meanwhile Trump has made us look like to the world like a banana republic run by a sadistic tin-pot despot. Thats not crazy enough for you?

Now Trump is so exasperated by his FAILURE that he has peddled the HOAX of Tariffs used to compel more participation out of Mexico when in fact Mexico had already agreed to and was already engaged in the exact activities that he claims were compelled by his Tariff threat....never mind that trying to cross Trade policy with Immigration is the most whacko, nut job approach to Administration on the face of the planet. Thats not crazy enough for you?

While we are at it, how successful has Trump's trade policy been. He yammers on about the export countries paying for Tariffs when in fact Tariffs are simply a tax on Americans not voted by the Congress. Oh by the way....they have not done ANYTHING positive. They were proven ineffective and dangerous 100 years ago when used the way Trump uses them. Tariffs when used this way simply push countries together into odd bilateral alliances in order to try to protect themselves and have actually led to WAR! Anybody that thinks seeing Putin and Xi sitting on a table signing agreements is a positive is completely out of his mind.

So what is there to learn from a tell all book written by somebody not under oath and not giving testimony. Pay attention to the policy and the result. Those are the things that matter.

Just as the voting record is all that really matters for a Congressman or a Senator, all that matters for an Administration is the deliverables, the policies that flow from them and the results. THAT IS IT. Usually the "official statements of the WH matter too. NOT IN THIS WH.

If all of that is not crazy enough for you, if what smacks you in the face every day right out in the open is not enough for you, I can go on.

So what you're saying is anyone who writes an insider's view of the WH cannot be trusted because they were not under oath when they wrote it. You've got it down to a pretty simple format.
