This GOP representative from Texas by the name of Matt Schafer declared that people had a "god-given" right to have arms according to the Second Amendment. He went on to say that "arms" meant not only guns but bazookas, artillery pieces and even nuclear weapons. but aside from his claims, when he mentioned god-given right was he being blasphemous or heretical in his words?

Just remember that at the time the Bible was being written there were no guns and so the word does not appear in the Bible.

It is neither.

Arm =/= munitions.

The 2A doesn't specifically protect the right to keep and bear "guns". It says "arms".

Thats why I carry the amputated arms of dead enemies, good for bludgeoning the heads of fools who say something stupid I don't like.

Remind me never to ask you to lend me a hand. :2wave:

I don't know if having arms is a "god-given right".....but I do know that the Apostles were
armed during the time of Jesus. They're not packing guns or semis....but they were armed with weapons of that time, nevertheless.

I suppose it is a right to defend one's self.

How can a Christian seek protection in firearms and at the same time live in harmony with the Bible’s requirements? That is a question each and every Christian should ask themselves...Micah 4:3; 1 Peter 3:11...

There are many instances where God told Israel to attack with weapons and destroy their enemies and the enemies of God. Yes, we should be seeking to be peacemakers. But, that's another issue. The right to defend one's self and others is also doctrinal and sound in the scriptures.

Yes, those were holy wars Jehovah God Himself directed...there has not been a holy war directed by Him since...Jesus taught "pray for your enemy"...Paul added to that "as far as it is possible with you, be peaceable toward all men"...that includes fighting in a war where you could possibly kill your own spiritual brother in another land...

How do you know that God has not directed inspired leaders to fight in a war? You act as if the heavens are closed. Are they? You don't think FDR wasn't inspired of God to act in God's name to defeat Hitler and Japan?

Absolutely not...anyone who has adopted pagan rituals and who have dishonored God by their unscriptural dogmas and their immoral conduct would/could ever be directed by Jehovah God...

“He that is turning his ear away from hearing the law—even his prayer is something detestable.” Proverbs 28:9

This is a corner stone of Islam. Literally hundreds of verses in the Qur'an are dedicated to denigration of anyone who denies the "clear signs" from God as delivered by Mohamed. Every single devout Muslim is as sure of the Qur'an as you are of the bible. You both can't be right, but sure as hell both of you can be wrong.

I'll take my chances with Jehovah God/the Bible/Jesus...

There are plenty of instances where unscriptural dogmas, immoral people have been inspired and received dreams and visions. You wouldn't have your bible if it weren't for Constantine and many others. You think there are people that have not sinned or don't sin everyday? Moses murdered an Egyptian. Yet, he wrote the Law into the hearts of the people of Israel. Jonah wasn't following God but God caught him and changed his thinking. Many others as well. Many of the apostles weren't nice people before their conversion.

BS...we have the Bible because it is inspired of God, no other reason...keep telling yourself that to support the ungodly...

Jehovah and Jesus are the same being.

No, they are not...the Bible does not have one scripture that says so but there are many that speak of them as being different beings, with Jehovah being the greater of the 2...

And, who was inspired to write down the words of God? People. Sinful people. Non-perfect people. You wouldn't have your bible if it weren't for the murderous Constantine who received a vision and inspired to keep what we mostly have today. You deny factual history? What is that Jehovah Witness church teaching these days? Yuk!
Yes! Moses was a murderer. Yes, so was Paul and others! Many of the prophets weren't good people before they were converted by the Lord. And, even then, struggled and weren't perfect. It was you that claimed God only speaks through perfectly moral people. Now, you are deciding you were wrong? Hopefully.

Only if you have added to the bible. Adonoi or Elohim is the most high God. Jehovah is his son. Spirit son. The great I AM who spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai. Jesus said he is the great I AM. I've shown you the versus the old and new testaments. Yet, you still want to close your eyes to them. Why?

No one believes your Mormon gibberish, including me...you've showed me nothing...and it is verses btw...

The quotes from Jesus and from OT are in the Bible, not Book of Mormon. So, are you agreeing that you don't believe in the Bible as the Word of God?

lol...no, they are not...you are confusing Jehovah God with Jesus Christ...

Exodus 3:14, God said … I Am That I Am
John 8"58, Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

Jehovah said he is I AM and Jesus said he is the same I AM. Through the transitive property of deductive reasoning, Jehovah and Jesus are the same being.

Lord; and beside me there is no saviour, Isa. 43:11, The Lord who spoke to Moses was Jehovah, the savior (Jesus Christ). Again, simple reasoning concludes Jehovah Witnesses are messed up with their lack of understanding of simple scriptures. It's really a shame because most of the JW's I know are wonderful people.
