Catholic Church In Crisis

I will point out that I noted in brackets that he's deceased.

You are right.. you did. He did a 'dungeons and dragons' series that got turned into a movie (satire). He sold the rights, knowing it was to be a parody, so I wonder how serious he actually was.

I stumbled onto him when I was new to the 'Net and at first thought Jack Chick was a caricature, a joke. I couldn't believe someone like this could be for real. He surely was, though. What a vile, malignant person.

If you met him, and he actually was like that, I will sympathize on having such a bad experience.

No, I never met him. I'm grateful for that. I mean it. Someone so consumed with hatred is toxic.

I will agree. That condition is too common.

It's about time. They've enjoyed far too long a reign. The fact that anyone remains is honestly a bit disgusting to think about. That being said, I don't think anyone cares at all what Darth Pope has to say. He had plenty of time to address the issues while he was Pope and literally only made it worse. I think crucifixion would serve as a fitting punishment for him.

I had to Google. Chiniquey claimed that the Vatican was behind the assassination of Lincoln. But here is what told me everything I ever needed to know:

To this day, some of Chiniquy's works are still promoted among Protestants and Sola scriptura believers. One of his most well-known modern day followers is Jack Chick, who created a comic-form adaptation of 50 Years In The Church of Rome, called "The Big Betrayal."[9] He relies [Chick is now deceased] strongly on Chiniquy's claims in his own anti-Catholic tracts. Quite a stupid conspiracy theory, I think!

It was during this period in the late 60's that my older sister, who was in nursing school, had to do six weeks of training in a Baltimore, Maryland Catholic institution for mentally ill people, but they were all priests and nuns. She brought home some truly hair-raising stories. At that time, I thought she was exaggerating but since then I've realized she wasn't.

My late wife was raised by nuns from the age of 3 to 9. She had some hair raising stories too. She hated nuns and the Catholic church for the rest of her life. It is a despicable institution.

My grandmother was a nun (yes, there's a story) and so were two of my great-aunts, Sisters of St. Joseph in Kalamazoo. I didn't know them very well, but they were lovely, good people. I was reared High-Church Episcopalian but was graduated from a Sacred Heart school. There were a couple of scary nuns--not mean, just very strict and therefore scary to, hmmm, rebels like me. Much later in life and because nuns tend to live so long, I had the opportunity to apologize, and they acted surprised and remembered only the good. This just kills me, you know. The nuns always win.
