False Prophets and Failed Prophesies

Of course, as an atheist - it's understandable that you see "saving lives," as a waste of time.
Since we Christian posters believe in an afterlife, we definitely belong in this discussion.

My main concern here are fellow-Christians that are conflicted, struggling with their faith , or could be swayed by false teachings.
I'm not after you atheist posters here - although it will be nice if this discussion gets any of you to
take a deep breath, and think.

But what about you?
What are you doing wasting your time in a discussion about something you don't even believe in?

Don't you think you ought to be playing video games instead?

It just hurts to see so much bitterness and division and waste of time over so much nonsense. It should be a sin. But I guess you guys have spent centuries and oceans of blood debating about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, or if the pope is really the representative of God, or other such nonsense. It seems there is no end to how much of this nonsense you guys can carry-on with.

But anyway, don’t let me interrupt. I will just show myself out. This just hurts too much to watch. :inandout:

Depends from what angle you're looking from.
How does one measures love....assuming that is, one can identify it in the first place. :)

Jesus summed up the Commandments of God to two simple rules:

Matthew 22
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

To many of us, it's so easy to say "love your neighbor." The phrase has been used - and abused many times to further an argument - but what does that really mean?

Some folks want you to believe that you cannot speak out against anyone about anything - not even to warn others, and expose false preachings -

but instead, in the name of "love," just watch.....and let some people (including some conflicted brothers and sisters)......... to walk off the cliff!

Do you agree your walk with the LORD is a personal one? You should.

What you did here was focus in on one individual who happens to be a Jehovah Witness.

There's a lot of sects of Christianity that I challenge in their practices but I would never question their love of G-d. And I would never think my LORD was so petty to eliminate a person from fellowship with HIM because of such teachings.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

Corrections: It's the other way around.
I focused on Jehovah's Witness .........because of an individual.

This isn't about what you think.....nor is this about your opinion, or your assumptions.
I'm going by the Scriptures.

Some of us can't accept the simplicity of God's stipulations, maybe because they have their own idea what they want Him to be. Thus, some people can't accept the reality of a place called hell....or the reality of eternal suffering....because they want a God who doesn't torture for all eternity.

I don't know about eliminating fellowship - but we do know what happens to false prophets in the end!
It's stated clearly in the bible - unless, you too, have your own preferred interpretation.

We should practice what we preach......otherwise we reflect the hypocrisies of the Pharisees.

Yes, I do.
In fact....I'd given a testimony how I'd LITERALLY asked the Lord about the style I use in forums.
I got my answer too, pronto.

What exactly do you mean by that?

"Personal walk," as in having your own personal relationship (in ways you communicate with Him, and glorify Him).......

....or, "personal walk," as in we can believe what we want to believe about Him, anyway we want?

We hear it say, "to each his own." Do you think that applies when it comes Christianity?
If so, how come the Scriptures is full of warnings against false preachers and false teachings?

Man. I just have to latch on to that word, humility. It's been bugging me.
That term is also usually taken out of context.
The Biblical meaning for humility is quite different. It is about God. Humility before God.

Submission to God. Spiritual Mourning. Repentance. Prayer. Those are the 4 marks of Humility, Bible-wise.

James 4

4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4 is very rich in its explanation about God.

The proud are those, who wouldn't submit to Him. Those who refuses to accept what is written!

Thus, be very wary of political correctness.....and relativism.

The attempt to be inclusive to all those that practice what are clearly against the Scriptures.....
........is conforming to the world. That isn't humility, at all.

What's the difference between them, and the ancient Israelites who conformed to the paganistic
practices of other people?
How many times were the Jews punished for the doing the very same
thing many, many times over the years and generations?
