1. The Messiah said that He would be three days and three nights in the "heart of the earth"

2. There are those who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week.

3. Of those, there are some who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb.

4. A 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection allows for only 2 nights to be involved.

5. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, some of those mentioned above say that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language.

6. I wonder if anyone who falls in that group of believers could provide examples to support that belief; i.e., instances where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of the daytime and/or no part of the night time could have occurred.

Are you a believer in a 6th day of the week crucifixion?

To be up front with you, my beliefs concerning the Crucifixion end well short of the question of days of the week.

Angel,
re: "To be up front with you, my beliefs concerning the Crucifixion end well short of the question of days of the week."

So that would be a no. This topic is really directed to those who believe the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week.

What difference does the day make?

nota bene,
re: "What difference does the day make?"

See the OP.

Perhaps someone new visiting this topic may know of examples.

See the OP.

I did. And I think the question is every bit as important as how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Hey, it was your question.

three days and three nights: Other Bible accounts show that this expression can mean parts of three days and that part of one day can be considered a whole day.—Ge 42:17, 18; 1Ki 12:5, 12; Mt 27:62-66; 28:1-6.

There are times when the Hebrews used ‘day and night’ to mean only a portion of a solar day of 24 hours. For example, 1 Kings 12:5, 12 tells of Rehoboam’s asking Jeroboam and the Israelites to “go away for three days” and then return to him. That he did not mean three full 24-hour days but, rather, a portion of each of three days is seen by the fact that the people came back to him “on the third day.” At Matthew 12:40 the same meaning is given to the “three days and three nights” of Jesus’ stay in Sheol. As the record shows, he was raised to life on “the third day.” The Jewish priests clearly understood this to be the meaning of Jesus’ words, since, in their effort to block his resurrection, they quoted Jesus as saying: “After three days I am to be raised up,” and then they requested Pilate to issue a command for “the grave to be made secure until the third day.”—Mt 27:62-66; 28:1-6; note other examples in Ge 42:17, 18; Es 4:16; 5:1.

Elvira,

I'm afraid I don't see where any of your references preclude at least a portion of a daytime or at least a portion of a night time. What do you have in mind?

I thought it was pretty clear...what do you have in mind?

Elvira,
re: "I thought it was pretty clear...what do you have in mind?"

I asked you first. Where do you see in any of your references where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with a event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have occurred?

it's just me,

Are you a believer in a 6th day of the week crucifixion?

Point #5 in the OP should be changed to read: To account for the lack of a 3rd night, there may be some of those mentioned above who try to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language.

it's just me,

You have a question directed to you in post #18.
