What happened to the "Edit" option?

Well now I'm seeing it on this new post, but not on some of my other comments on other forums.

I don't remember the details, but it is in the help section. There is a time limit to editing. It can be abused in a few silly ways and so it has rules about timing and where it is posted and what you can edit.
You have to look up the details, but I do remember it being pretty fair considering how annoying it could be used wrongly.

There's a time limit on every post for making edits.
After about 5 minutes, or maybe 10 minutes, the option to edit a post disappears.
It's that way for a good reason.
