I spent 20 minutes writing additional text in a posted message. All of my efforts were wasted when I was notified I took to long to edit and my new content disappeared. I see little purpose to such a short editing window. Content should never get dumped without an opportunity to copy or save it. If there is any way I can recover my lost content please notify me. Thanks.

I don't agree.

This is a discussion forum. People can't wait for someone to take 20 minutes to post something into a thread. They want to quote and respond rapidly.

If it is an original thread post, then you have all the time in the world to prepare it before posting (unless it is a hot news topic and you want to get your thread up before someone else does.)

If it is a response post, then you still have time to prepare it on your home computer word processing system so that you only need short edits once posted.

Nothing stops people from responding quickly with a longer edit time. They only need to quote the post they are responding to. I often need the time because it takes awhile to notice a typo or I think of more info that should have been added. I have used other forums with no editing limits without seeing any problems. If people try to be sneaky and revise their statements for purposes of deception they will be caught because of the quotes showing earlier versions on the edited post.

With or without a time limit, text should never get dumped without a way to copy or save it.

I lik alonger editing time too, I'm a ponderously slow, and notoriously sloopy typist..

Closing this thread as well. No reason to make two separate threads on the exact same subject.
