FedEx, which has naming rights to the stadium in which the Washington Redskins play, made a request Thursday that the team change its nickname.

"We have communicated to the team in Washington our request that they change the team name," FedEx said in a statement obtained by ESPN.

Finally, this should have been done decades ago. Roger Goodell needs to do his job, force Daniel Snyder to change the teams name, or remove him as the owner.

Yes, then we can see every team in not only 3A titles get the same treatment. But lower rung JV, or even just high school teams as well.

Hell, the last few polls I've even seen concerning the name of that specific team. Showed that Native Americans either didn't care for the name, or were proud of it being the teams name. By a good majority of the poll taken.

The poll is completely fake and rigged. The WaPo poll was not based on any science.

Never going to happen. The Supreme Court has already sided with the Washington Redskins and declared Section 2(a) of the Lanham Act (a section better known as the "disparagement clause") to be unconstitutional.

Then you're basically allowing anyone to claim much the same on nearly any poll you might supply in the future.

It's just a name and it's not being used in a racist connotation. So just let the team keep it. Because pushing the issue is only going to do far more bad than good.

Nike has removed all Washington Redskins merchandise from the Nike website.

Could be good news for all of the slave laborers and children who make Nike shoes in Asia to catch a little breather on the work load.

Let's see, the supreme court versus money. I'm putting my money on fedex winning this battle or the taxpayers of dc can build a new stadium that they own and can keep the redskins name.

Money wins out over the constitution, over the supreme court and over most people's morals.

Dan Snyder will not only change the team name, but he will also apologize for his past foolish statements.

The Washington team name is greatly offensive. Native Americans feel very deeply about it. Go to any Indian reservations and ask the people there.

Sorry, but real Americans do not submit to the insane demands of the anti-American fascist left. The more the name offends progressive freaks, the better. And there isn't a damn thing you can do about it because the Supreme Court has ruled against your fascism.

Since we have the W. Nationals, W. Americans makes sense. W. Monuments are currently my favorite. W. Militias for the God, Guns, and Glory crowd. A variation of W. Wounded Warriors has been floated.

As a capitalist, this is a tremendous opportunity for Snyder to ca$h in. Old memorabilia will be valuable. They could even rotate names, like some variation of W. Armed Forces; W. Olympians, W. Heroes; W. First-Responders; endless ...

I would feel guilty owning any old washington memorabilia. When I think of that ugly logo I think of the trail of tears.

It should be banned and burned like Hitler paraphernalia.
