What should it cost to move from #5 to #3? #26? I think less.
The chart shows the difference to be the #40 pick
That's a necro thread, but thanks for linking to it.
It appears the NFL draft will be held on schedule. It gives us something to talk about when we sit home. My team happens to be the the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Naturally, we pick last in most rounds. Most, because we only have 5 picks this year. Last season we rebuilt the defense, so depth is thin in some areas, yet all the pundits want to project offensive weapons to us. What we need are linemen on both sides. I would put the priorities at DT, DB, TE, IOL, OT, RB/WR. Except for OT, this is a good draft for all of that, especially if a starter is not needed.
Here's a quick and sloppy mock draft.
1 - QB Joe Burrow CIN
2 - EDGE Chase Young WAS
3 - LB Isaiah Simmons DET
4 - DL Derrick Brown NYG
5 - QB Tua Tagovailoa MIA
6 - CB Jeffrey Okudah LAC
7 - OT Andrew Thomas CAR
8 - OT Mekhi Becton ARI
9 - WR CeeDee Lamb JAC
10 - OT Tristan Wirfs CLE
11 - OT Jedrick Wills NYJ
12 - CB CJ Henderson LV
13 - WR Justin Jefferson SF
14 - DL Javon Kinlaw TB
15 - WR Jerry Jeudy DEN
16 - LB Kenneth Murray ATL
17 - EDGE Yetur Gross-Matos DAL
18 - WR Henry Ruggs III MIA
19 - EDGE A.J. Epenesa LV
20 - CB Kristian Fulton JAC
21 - LB Patrick Queen PHI
22 - WR Tee Higgins MIN
23 - QB Jordan Love NE
24 - WR Denzel Mims NO
25 - EDGE K'Lavon Chaisson MIN
26 - OT Josh Jones MIA
27 - S Grant Delpit SEA
28 - LB Zack Baun BAL
29 - QB Justin Herbert TEN
30 - OT Austin Jackson GB
31 - WR Brandon Aiyuk SF
32 - DL Ross Blacklock KC
If you had any idea how upset the Chiefs Kingdom was about the trade up for that pick, you would bust a gut laughing. The draft evaluators gave the team bad marks. Long afterward we learned that the whole NFL was gobsmacked the the Chiefs were able to pull of the deal and that the next team, New Orleans, was set to take him. Then we found out that the FO set the deal up three days in advance. It's **** like that that makes this so fun.Just remember, it is the quality of the picks you make, not the number of picks you have. Kansas City. If I had that quarterback, I would be drafting the top Line men every year. He is you ticket to years of success, keep him protected and you will hopefully have as many good years as New England had with Brady.
Miami: 5 Tua (Chargers force a trade up to 3 or 4 in a vain effort to obtain Tua), 18 OT...
Tampa: 14 OT, round 2 safety, round 3/4 CB/RB. Sign Freeman and a CB in FA.
Tampa does not have years of a great quarterback, but their best chance at a Superbowl is to give that QB and those absolutely amazing receivers time. Damn if Tom Brady doesn't jump into the top five Fantasy point producers with those receivers. That team may actually win that division with a drop in turnovers.
The #2 interior offensive line. #10 at 2.5 seconds of pass protection. Drafting a tackle.
Defense #1 in run stopping last year.
Just think how good the defense will look when the Offense is not throwing interceptions as much. It will be a show and I would bet the odds of them going to the superbowl are pretty good.
A safety round 2, a corner round 3 and signing a corner in FA. Then the defense is good enough for Brady. And so is the offense.
Wow, I am excited for Brady and TB. I honestly think Brady will be on a Mission to show he is even a better QB outside of NE. Of course, Belichick will be on that same mission.
I am going to say Brady comes out on top with this competition.
It all depends on the medical front. There is some hope for July baseball, though not much. Football is not until September and the ability to test every player, coach, trainer and referee is going to be available. What happens if the NFL pulls the plug ala NCAA Men’s Tournament? Do the games go on in empty stadiums? Relying on TV revenue....
Belichick does have a playoff caliber team. Starting with the NFL's best defense will take you a long way. Also, Brady is not the only QB that can run that system. Look up the 2009 team.Brady has a playoff caliber team. Beli doesn't.
