Major League Baseball 2020

Not many teams will be interested in a player that simply ghosts his team, although we are talking about the Mets.

They are still paying Bobby Bonilla :rofl:

Hopefully it won't be the Mets who pay him.

He's a free agent, I doubt the Mets will go after him again.. His time with the Mets is over.

I got nothing against Cespedes, he helped the Mets make it to the WS in 2015.. Lots of teams spent a hell of a lot more money over the past 5 years and never made it to the WS.. All those teams do now is whine and cry about how the Astros sign stealing screwed them out of making the WS... ;)

Oh he'll get a contract.. But, IMO, $15 mil is high.. Him being out this year means he hasn't played except for a week or 2 for 3 years..

I can see him get a $8-10 mil one year trial type contract loaded with incentives. When he was healthy he carried the Mets, but he's never healthy anymore.

The one year contract deal work great for the Braves last year. Josh Donaldson and Dallas Keuchel. Without those two, the Braves wouldn't have ever won their division. They signed Marcell Ozuna to a one year contract this year and that also is looking great. So far.

I think for 8-10 million, the Braves would be interested in Cespedes next year, for a one year deal only. If Cespedes is looking for a multi year deal, he isn't going to find it in Atlanta.

Perhaps because of Cespedes poor showing so far this year might be one of the reasons he opted out. Opting out could protect his value in his own mind whereas if he continued to play poorly for the remainder of the schedule, his value certainly would drop.

Aaron Judge is playing like Babe Ruth.

Ohtani is done as a pitcher. Walked 8 on 50 pitches in Spring Training. When these Japanese pitchers lose their confidence they really struggle.

His ERA is only 37.80 down from ∞ an immeasurable change

CLE at +145 over CIN; PHL/NYY under 5.5 in 5; NYM/ATL under 4 in 5 innings; that leaves 6 games to start at 7:10 or later; I’ll explain this post later as to why I did it;

Triple-headers if they continue? 21 innings isn’t that much more than 18. Teams hosting two different teams on the same day? Moving games to safer zones in a mini-bubble scenario?

these morons are still high fiving and spitting all over the place

this season will be shut down in no time

how disappointing that these players would conduct themselves like this

I don’t know why but I can’t go there. I’ve been keenly watching MLB for over 5+ decades. Players like Lindor are trying to ‘counsel’ their teams on behavior.

I don’t suppose there’ll be any celebrating a touchdown, correct?! This virus will be with us for years to come.

Nothing on PIT/MIN or CHW/MIL; under < 8 in 9 innings for KC/CHC; under 8 in 5 innings for SF/COL; OAK/SEA < 9 un 9 innings;

under is a pattern for 1st game of a series; some games like NYM/ATL and SF/COL are 4th game of series; we’ll see what I know today putting it up;

rain weather now joining covid cancelling games; SD/Paddock at +120 over LAD/Beuhler at -130 in 9;

then explain what you meant, it seemed rather obvious.

I don’t have to explain anything to a person who’s being negative in baseball threads. There are other posters here who would gladly enjoy that pile on. And now, it’s the Ohio cup, rain-delayed as it was. CLE/CIN

Cole is a beast. Reminds me of Nolan Ryan.

You must be unaware of Covid... Trumpism at it's finest

Pitchers are falling like flies this season.

Im sure he will get a ridiculous contract next year because some GM will be desperate to make a jump from mediocre to contender. I wager he gets at least $15 mil a year

The rumor is Cespedes was spotted at the mall and wasn't hiding/going dark:

New York Mets outfielder Yeonis Cespedes decided he was opting out yesterday, while telling absolutely no one other than his agent.

The move was completely unprofessional, to say the least. Cespedes quit a job that is essentially entirely responsible for his $60 million net worth and did it without as much as a text to his employer to prepare for the absence. Cespedes managed to head to the mall while Mets staffers frantically searched his hotel room.

Mets, Already 4 Games Back Through 10, Lose Cespedes and Hope – OutKick

I could have been a smear campaign from the Mets. I wouldn't trust signing these Cuban defectors. A lot of them get help from illegal smugglers and the cartel to get them in this country. A lot of money getting swaped between some bad hombres.

Bumping. I watched the Mets game yesterday. Porcello was that good. Lugo was solid. A few teams in that wide-open division need starting pitching. Trade deadline in 25 days.

Each game has that feeling of a short field goal. It looks to me that MLB went to its livest stash of baseballs. Defensive plays have been very sharp.

Technology for graphics is incredible compared to when I was a kid. Watching fielders with their cheat sheets and then moving into place is cool.
