Major League Baseball 2020

The World Series is over and the Nationals have had their parade. Time to start thinking about 2020.

Sources: Strasburg opts out of Nationals contract

Will be interesting. Nats did pretty well after letting Harper walk last year. No hometown discount with Boros. I would let him walk if he demands eight years and $300 million. Injury history says he probably wont last for the full contract.

Nats have shown they will overpay for starting pitching, both $$$ and years.

IF the Nats hold onto their big name FA's, the NL East will be an interesting division next year.

4 out of the 5 teams 'should' be very good next year.

105 days until Spring Training. :)

My Red Sox will be holding down second or third place.

The Yankees will only get better, because they will not sit quietly without adding some better pitching.

Cashman flat out admitted in the past he was ordered NOT to go over the Luxury tax threshold. So that's the reason they haven't signed any big names pitchers lately.

Now a few days ago he said THIS off-season he hasn't been told 1 way or the other about going over the Luxury tax. Anyway I can see the Yanks getting 1 of the big named pitchers free agents, but not 2 or more.

Yeah... I was reading something similar to this online earlier this morning.

They can afford to shuffle a few positions, plus they do have a couple great prospects down in AAA.

I read their payroll is about $160 mil now, but Judge, and a few other of the kids will be getting raises this year so that should bump the payroll to $190 mil or so.

That doesn't leave a lot of room to stay under the $208 mil tax threshold.

pitching and defense wins championships

always has and i think always will

Madison Bumgarner, LHP. Age: 30. ...
Hyun-Jin Ryu, LHP. Age: 32. ...
Zack Wheeler, RHP. Age: 29. ...
Jake Odorizzi, RHP. Age: 29. ...
Dallas Keuchel, LHP. Age: 31. ...
Cole Hamels, LHP. Age: 35. ...
Wade Miley, LHP. Age: 32 ....
Rick Porcello, RHP. Age: 30....

these are just starters that are ALL free agents i believe....the agents must be frothing at the mouths

Nats will almost certainly focus on resigning Strasburg. If they do that then they won't chase anyone else. If they don't then your list comes into play.

[h=2]Labor unrest again lurks just below the surface as baseball’s Hot Stove heats up[/h]
Many of the same forces that made last winter’s market so frustrating and polarizing are back a year later. And if anything, things are even worse this winter.

Baseball is making money.

But I'm sure the 'some' owners have seen to bad ratings and the drop in attendance and the AWFUL long term contracts some of the idiot owners have given out. See Pujols, Ellsberry, Stanton, etc. and it's still early but Harper and Manny who didn't lead their teams to the playoffs, and neither made the all_star game this year.

So I won't be surprised if the owners play 'hardball' this year.

Doolittle: 'We had our guard up' for Astros stealing signs - (106.7 The Fan)
"Sean Doolittle of the World Series champion Nationals took to Twitter on Thursday to weigh in on the sign-stealing controversy the Houston Astros are currently embroiled in."

I doubt this years WS will come into play in this investigation since the home teams lost every single game.

And BTW, no.. This is a crazy thing for him to say, actually might say something about him. Cheating is cheating.. Actually IMO steroids maybe worse.

"There's a difference to me between a guy behind the scenes popping a hormone to make himself better, versus this systemic, team-wide video type cheating. I think this needs to be one of the harshest penalties ever levied.
