    Sub 2 hour marathon

Right now, Eliud Kipchoge is on course in Vienna to become the first man to run a marathon under 2 hours.

I wasn't alive to see Roger Bannister crack the mile under 4 minutes and now many top athletes do this regularly. Anyone else watching?

I just don't get why anybody cares.

There are medical researchers finding the pathways to cure cancer. There are people building a space industry which will be the greatest single jump in human wealth ever.

Some bloke ran fast. No drugs involved...

You don't think some of those medical researchers are inspired by athletes? Or that athletes are also inspired by medical researchers?

Some day, you should research and find out who Francis Wells is, a man inspired by someone else in another field completely. Might help you understand why the best of the best look to each other, even across time to move themselves forward.

    Amazing accomplishment.
Around 4 four and a half minutes per mile......for 26+ miles.
Unbelievable......I'm exhausted just thinking about this feat...and since it's 2 AM West Coast time....I'm going to bed.
    Good night.

It's totally unreal what the human body is capable of. To think I'm super proud of my 49 minute 10k.

A climate science denier trying to derail a sports thread by calling for more science, the irony is just too much. Why did you even come into this subforum?

This is an amazing accomplishment and Kipchoge has done what many thought was an impossibility. I myself have run many 26 mile marathons and know what it takes. My hat is off to this amazing athlete.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

If we had the open use of drugs to enhance human performance that would be very true. It would have a very positive effect on humanity.

But drugs are evil arn't they??

It is my wish to see humanity advance and not be derailed by bad scicen that causes me to see that there is no problem from a warmer world.

That you Alarmists always run from discussing the science, except to throw in the idea that it is settled, which is just a way to avoid thinking, shows that you are the enemy of reasoned thought.

When someone attempts to discuss the science with you, you start quoting conspiracy blogs and ignore the actual scientific consensus, evidence and conclusions from real scientists. Absolutely no idea what any of your incoherent rambling has to do with sports or marathon running.
