less and less fans are going to the games. MLB is having trouble attracting millennials. Last game I went the place was dead. Half empty and the majority of people not paying attention.

IMO baseball needs to go to a subscription model. You pay say like $40-50 a month and get to watch all your favorite teams games on tv + get like 2-4 tickets every month to a special promotion game like a bat or bobblehead giveaway.

Just my thoughts.

It's cause the Cubs won't stop ****ing up at the end of the season.

Just because the seats were empty doesn't mean they weren't sold. Online ticket sellers sometimes scoop up large numbers of tickets to events with the hope they can turn a profit.

Anyway, when I was Georgia we used to go to Braves games buying the tickets at the box office an hour or so before. They usually (always did when we went) have seats open up late. We got a lot of good seats at cheap prices that way.

Perhaps Baseball needs to come up with a variant like cricket did to re-energize the sport.

Cricket came up with a shorter, sleeker game called T20 which has become wildly popular.

Typically cricket games could last an entire day to several days on a Test.

T20 can last anywhere between 3-4 hours making it more palatable for the casual fan and due to the shorter, more urgent nature of T20, everyone has to take more risks, so there are more wickets and riskier plays.

So yeah, I think baseball needs something like that, I use to love going to games in person but I’ve never been able to sit and watch an entire game on TV, it’s just boring as hell.

the attendance in Miami, Tampa, and Oakland does not even reach on average 10k.

They badly need to move one of those teams to Vegas.

also, they should allow you to drink unlimited beer.

It must be because of all the players kneeling for the national anthem.....oh wait.

So you can watch a 4 hour cricket match but not a 2 hour baseball game?

Too many teams, need a salary cap and get rid of fully guaranteed contracts

So you can watch a 4 hour cricket match but not a 2 hour baseball game?

What I mean is in relativity.

So going from a whole day down to 3-4 hours was significant and lead to for example the IPL to become one of the biggest leagues in the world.

And for someone like me who grew up in cricket countries who has a passing interest, hasn’t watched in years and can’t stand watching test cricket which lasts days and One Days which last an entire day, T20 absolutely brought me back into the sport, I’ve even looked into possibly playing cricket again next summer as there is a T20 league around and in the evenings I’m watching the Caribbean Premier League and loving it these last few weeks.

Change comes very slow in soccer, but some have proposed lowering the amount of playtime from 90 minutes to 60 and stopping the clock when play is suspended for fouls and out of bounds etc. and I can’t fault the logic because the way things are now, due to all the stops in play if memory serves me correct an average of 55 minutes is actually spent playing of the 90.

So in T20 for example, there’s a bunch of stuff they do to stop dead space between plays, majorly if the innings isn’t done within 75 minutes the umpire can award the batting side 6 runs per over until the innings are done, barring extenuating circumstances, just as an example.

So I’m by no means a baseball expert but there could be a way to play with the game and make it punchier as cricket did relative to what it was.

As people’s attention spans become shorter and shorter and because we have so much choice in what we can watch and do with our time it’s more and more important for sports to adapt to that reality.

Another good example and for a variety of reasons beyond just the length of time races take that is getting creamed is NASCAR.

But anyway, was just a suggestion.

Attendance really depends on what team you're talking about. Florida teams seem to have plenty of empty seats, but other teams do a decent job filling the seats between season ticket plans, specials, give aways, special appearances and events etc.
I agree baseball is more engaging in person, but if you're really into the game or your team in particular, you might get into watching on tv. I know folks who watch every game.

In person, games are entertainment as much as sport. There are give aways, theme nights, pre-game events on the field, regularly-scheduled fun involving he crowd, singing, clapping etc, etc.

And it's of note, that baseball hasn't been tainted with SJW crap and is a place where people of all kinds come together to be unabashedly patriotic, fanatics, silly and communal.

Last BB game I went to was in 2002, and I spent 90% of it up in the beer area chatting with chicks, and then left after like the 6th inning.

A couple dimes before that, or maybe longer, I didn't even make it inside the stadium, choosing instead to just party inside a bar in Wrigleyville after pawning off my ticket for a couple bucks above face value.

I've been to a few minor league games though with the various wives. Not bad fun there.
