2019-2020 NHL Thread - Ice Hockey Baby!!!

25 shots, no goals. Watching the Yotes / Devils before the Isles begin. I wanted the Isles to get Simmonds now I'm kind of glad they went with the youngsters.

To be fair, the entire Devil's franchise is having a horrible start to the season. Almost dead last in the entire NHL.

Hard to fault Simmonds with anything at this time. His success with Flyers was mostly centered around camping out right in front of goalie, providing a screen, and getting sweet deflections and juicy rebounds.

Not sure what the Devil's are trying to do with him, but if they can't get him into those situations he won't be a very effective goal scorer.

On the bright side, the DEVIL'S SUCK!!!!!

Now, if we could just get them to infect the Penguins, life would be brighter for all of us.

Shot percentages will trend towards around 9 %. He will get his goals before the season is done.

I thought Simmonds could be the Anders Lee on the 2nd line. Stand in front and tip some pucks. Lee had a nice backhand in front as he was being taken down. I like the Devils but I agree with you about the Pens.

The way the Devils play defense he should be in a fair amount of shoot outs. Clanked another off the post last I saw. LOL! No one believes in my Isles including the NHL network guys. Another grind it out win and they were down to 8 forwards for a while after dressing 11. Nick Leddy is the fastest defensemen in the league.

As I said, Simmonds "office" is parked in front of goalie, screening, tipping, deflecting, and getting juicy rebounds.

That only works if the people he's on the ice with get shots on goal.

So if Simmonds isn't getting goals, it's a fair guess it's because the people he plays with are not getting shots on net.

I think he is up to 26 or 27 shots without a goal. Per Redress he should have at least 2 or 3 goals. Subban doesn't look all that fantastic either. I thought they were great pick ups to help Hughes and Hischier.

Flyers had a great comeback win over the Blue Jackets last night.

Ha ha Tortorella you douchebag!!! Ha ha. :2razz:

(in the long run he might have the last laugh, but I'll take anything can get right now)

3 in a row!!!

Todd McClellan, coach of the LA Kings, after they lost to Chicago today: ""This trip was good because it let us know that there's some players that probably can't play in the league right now."

Hart looked awful. Isles could easily have had 7 or 8 if not for Elliot. Stewart held his own against Johnston, that gut is one mean looking dude.

Not sure what's going on with Hart. Youth perhaps? Inexperience? Pressure? All of those plus something else?
He's had three awful games in a row.

Elliot has earned the number one goalie spot for the time being. Fingers crossed he stays healthy.

Penguins tonight. Just hoping for anything not too embarrassing.

Wow what an ugly 1st with Elliot in goal.

Whole game was ugly as F.

Truly shows that the Flyers have not really changed at all from where they've been in the last few seasons.

I was hoping to not be embarrassed, and that all went down the drain before the first period was even half over.

Flyers next game is against the Dead Last in the NHL Devil's.
I would not at this time place any bets on a win for the Flyers.

Yep. Good for the Wayne-Train.

At least the Flyers eeked out a shoot-out overtime win. Great for Hart.

Both teams played some ugly-ass hockey though.

I doubt tonight's game against Toronto will be good for the Flyers.
I'm expecting Toronto to make the Flyers look rather pathetic.

Flyers are playing crap hockey. :3oops:

You are never out of it when playing the Devils. Hall won't be back after his comments even if he was right. I saw some of the game, including the OT. Ugly but exciting. Isles are rocking, made Tampa look pedestrian. To be fair they are missing Hedman who always burns the Isles. Nevertheless a real nice win. I don't think Toronto is so great plus they are missing Taveras.

10 in a row baby! The drive for 5!

Big win for Flyers and Carter Hart last night against the Hurricanes.

Might have been their best game so far this season.

By the way - what the hell has happened to Tampa Bay this season?

They haven't recovered from last year's playoffs disaster. Hedman injury also big. Other teams are also better. Isles go for 11 against the Pens. I think Letang is out, he kills us

Slow start, which a bunch of really good players struggling. It happens, but I suspect they will right the ship soon. Soon as a couple players start to score, things will change fast for them.

Found this an interesting read, an excerpt from Stu Grimson's autobiography. The Grim Reaper meets his nemesis - CBC Sports

It was an off day for us, so Pam and I were enjoying a moment of solitude between games. That is until I heard this voice booming from across the restaurant:

“Hey Stu!”

It came again when I didn’t find the source of the voice at first. By now, everyone in the restaurant was looking at the big man walking toward me, and many of them undoubtedly recognized him as Bob Probert.

As I turned to greet him, I really didn’t know what I was supposed to do. We had fought four times during the regular season. At that point in my career, I wasn’t yet clear on what kind of relationships NHL tough guys had with each other off the ice. I wondered if I was going to have to fight Probert in the restaurant in front of my wife.

He seemed more friendly than menacing as he strolled toward me. But would it be wise to let down my guard with Bob Probert bearing down on me? Should I stand back and get ready to throw or should I shake the man’s hand? That’s what was running through my mind before Bob reached me and held out his hand.

The Oilers alternate uniforms are pretty bad IMHO
