The Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes opened their season last night in Orlando, a neutral game site. The game sold out. Nosebleed tickets ran more than $200 each.

These two teams hadn't played each other since 2013. Miami historically has dominated.

Last night, the Gators, ranked #8 pre-season, came in favored.

Miami scored first, a field goal. The Gators answered with a touchdown. The game seesawed through the night. Something like 5 game changes?

Both sides made numerous blunders. The game remained suspenseful until the last 20 seconds. The Gators eked out a victory 24 - 20!

Go Gators!

I forgot it was on. Watched the Cowboys slaughter the Texans.

Good opening to the College Football season, and Miami did better against Florida than I thought they would.

The Florida/Miami game was a pretty good kickoff to the college football season (wasn’t really expecting it to be that competitive)

As for the rest of the season, I’m not really looking forward to Notre Dame underwhelming my already low expectations as per the usual. But one can hope right?

My AZ Wildcats suck. That is all.

Great drama right now in the final seconds of the Oregon Auburn game!

Touchdown Auburn! Oregon 21 Auburn 27

9 seconds left in the game!

Nicely done, Auburn. :applaud

That little last moment miracle has my wife jumping up and down on the couch.

Miami vs. Florida was a good game. Diaz will do well at Miami. It'll take time. Miami really doesn't have a huge fan base even locally in Miami. Florida fans are everywhere.

I liked Florida State when Bowden was there. Everything changed after he left. Jameis Winston and the way FSU and Tallahassee PD mishandled the rape case and other crimes at FSU turned me off of FSU and Jimbo Fisher.

Generally, the SEC didn't look so hot today. Tennessee, what the hell? South Carolina became Mack Brown's first victim in his return to North Carolina. Georgia, my alma mater, looked good until the second half. At that point, they appeared less than motivated against Vandy.

It's early yet. Most teams need to iron out some kinks and I doubt most teams want to overplay as long as they are winning. It wouldn't make much sense to show everything you've got when/if you don't have to and you have your entire season ahead of you.

No matter, it was a fine day. College football all Saturday is always a fine day.

Use to have one the best looking female student bodies though. Back when I was in school, one of our favourite road trip destinations was to the U of A.

Still do.

It's tough these days as the football program is struggling with lousy coaching. Some day hopefully.

Not a Michigan fan. Good game. Game was tied going into OT when I started this post. Should any team be eliminated from a hypothetical 8-team playoff if they lose early? The game is too good for only four teams, especially with five power conferences.

We want to see more of these games between power conferences, LSU/Texas, Texas A&M/Clemson, NEB/COL. Win your CCG and you’re in. Committee still picks the three at-large and then seeds the great eight.

There’s four weeks between CCGs and the semifinals, easy to split in two. Surprising to see the NCAA not seeing the $$$ involved. Quarterfinal losers could still get a bowl game. Etc.

Michigan did all they could to give the game away and deserved to lose. In the end it was Army and their lack of a real quarterback that killed them.

After further review, Army won.

I'm just seeing some really awful coaching calls today with regards to 4th downs. Maryland lost because their idiot coach failed a fake field goal, went for it on fourth another time instead of taking the points. And now South Carolina went for a td on 4th and goal at the three instead of taking the easy 3.

TAKE
THE
POINTS

I wonder how long before Locksley at Maryland ruins that program like he did New Mexico where he went 2 wins in three years?

Arizona State hanging with Michigan State. ASU up 3-0 at half.

#18 Michigan State hooks field goal. Arizona State wins.

Miami's coach was the one fired from UGA. Infamous for choking in big games. Always finished seasons with winning records but had a losing record against ranked teams.

Kentucky giving Florida fits. 7-7 and Kentucky is in the red zone.
