How To Solve the Equal Pay Issue Between Men & Women In Sports

They would still be making less because they would not be winning... as long as winnings is based off of league/team revenues, as it is, there is no problem and no gender disparity.

Correct. They would not be winning.
They would be making their "fair share" based on their performance relative to ALL the other athletes.

If you're not as "good" you don't make as much. Regardless of gender.

So some women will make more than some men, and some men will make more than some women.

If a woman succeeds in defeating everybody competing, she wins the top prize and the most money. Simple as that.

As a non-sports-watcher, I have no idea. Like, obviously women's sports don't tend to draw the same interest, which is what drives profits for most sports, but that's also a capitalist thing that doesn't necessarily have to to be true - so...maybe we pay male athletes less, because it's not exactly that hard to do sports, and then we even out the field for everyone else.

For at least some sports, maybe go coed, if not all sports.

Just establish a percentage of the teams salaries and league funds that will go towards sports players(labors).
So if women bring in less revenue then they get less pay and so forth.

That is precisely the current system. In fact, the women get a larger share of the Women's league revenue than the men do.

I've been thinking about this "issue" regarding the idea that women don't make the same amount of money as men in sports.

I have a solution. A simple "fix" for the problem. Also, this would solve the issue regarding transgender athletes.

Just eliminate the separation, and have everyone compete with, and against each other.

No ladies soccer. No ladies golf. No ladies weight lifting. No ladies track. No ladies tennis.

Just soccer, golf, track, weight lifting, MMA, tennis....

Same rules, same everything.

People want "fair". Make it fair.

If a female ice hockey player wants to make as much money as Sidney Crosby, let her get drafted into the NHL and play just as good as Sydney Crosby. On the same ice, and against the same opponents.

How many women could competitively play basketball in the NBA? Assuming there's no requirement to have some ratio of men to women.

Why isn't Serena Williams playing against Federer and/or Djokovic? She beats them, she can win all the money.

100 meter dash? Just the fastest top runners, regardless of gender.

Eliminate the gender/sex separation, and let the best athlete(s) win. Winner gets the prize.

Problem solved.

I get the Johnathan Swift vibe you are laying down. We all know that under that system there would be few women in most sports, if any.

Sarena Williams in her prime probably would have been in the top 100 under your system. I've seen some female boxers who could compete in the fly weight division. Curling should probably already be integrated.

But females can't overcome genetics. Professional sports pull the most talented, most gifted athletes, and where speed and strength are essential in a sport, the most gifted female athletes will lag their male counterparts by a lot.

Modern Social Justice has doomed the female athlete anyway. In most sports, if the female athletes start to make anywhere near the money of their male counterparts then there will be a sudden migration of men identifying as women moving to the women's side where they will go from being a marginal player to team all-star... and genetic females will continue making less than men.

So perhaps they should stop complaining about the difference in money earned compared to men, and just focus on improving/promoting the sport they chose to play.

Well, except the whole transgender thing that is threatening female sports....

The fact that men can't compete in women's leagues is sexism. There are tons of women that I could beat, that are on professional women's teams.

as a non-sports watcher and non-sports participant, you have concluded that being a professional athlete is "not exactly that hard to do"???

Look, I understand the whole "equal pay for equal job" idea. I'm not disagreeing with that.

What I'm saying is a female ice hockey player isn't doing an "equal job" as a male ice hockey player.

I mean, even a male ice hockey player in the AHL isn't doing an equal job as a male ice hockey player in the NHL.
So they don't get paid equally.

Does a female rugby player do the same job as a male rugby player?
If the female is playing against other females, then the answer is "no".

We agree... I thought I made that clear but perhaps I didn't.

To me it is about what the player brings in. Women's leagues bring in far less money than men's leagues... so they make less.

The boy who played #1 as a freshman on my son's HS tennis team could beat Serena williams by the time he was 16. Now, I know lots of people who prefer watching women's tennis to men-including lots of men who like watching really attractive ladies-and I can think of very few professional women's tennis players who don't have world class figures. same with lady ice skaters vs men. But I cannot think of many people I have ever met who prefer watching women's basketball over mens.

yep, the women's world cup in football made many times less money than the mens-the mens' world cup might be as or more popular than the Olympic games. Male players cut of the revenue was a lower percentage than the womens'

Women's basketball sucks...

Yep... that is why I think it should be based the way that it is and not about some idiotic "equal rights" crap.

Money talks and Bullshit walks...
