Lakers dynasty is set!

I’m not a Cav’s fan. I was a LeBron fan when he was a Cav. There’s a difference.

Westbrook to Cleveland does sound interesting though. Got a link?

Westbrook and Kevin Love were college teammates. I think the Knicks and Heat will want him too, although trading for Westbrook is about selling tickets, not about winning championships.

Lakers sign DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo. Wow, what a day!

Westbrook and OBJ in Cleveland, with a couple young exciting players like Collin Sexton and Baker Mayfield might light up some nights along the shores of Lake Erie.

Stranger things have happened. But, I'd rather see Russ paired up with Giannis in the small city on the Big Lake north of Chicago.

Clay giddy 'bout dis.

Now Kawhi had the chance to create a superteam and join LeBron and Anthony Davis in their title quest with the Lakers, but he didn’t want that — he wanted Steve Ballmer, Doc Rivers, Jerry West, and the Clippers. He wanted LA, but he wanted his own version of LA, not the glitz and glamour and perpetual social media updates and mini-dramas of LeBron, he wanted LA his own way.

To do so, he and the Clippers had to pull off the moves of a chess grandmaster.

...

Think about this, George managed to request a trade from the Thunder and even with all the breathless media attention of NBA free agency, no one knew about it at all. Compare this with how Anthony Davis requested his trade from New Orleans — Rich Paul told every media member about it in the country. The result was Anthony Davis’s exit from the Pelicans was a prolonged mess, a carnival of excessive awkwardness.

He's right. And, the Lakers overpaid for those damaged goods too, caving to LeBron and Paul. No way was Kawhi ever joining that circus. Who, with options, would?

The piece continues. And, it's a good read. I recommend it.

The Lakers have signed Danny Green, JaVale McGee, and Quinn Cook, 5 rings between the 3.

You also forget Anthony Davis was a champion in college. He averages 26 ppg, but his specialty is in his defense.

LeBron for MVP
Davis for Defensive player of the year.

And they will probably sign, Kyle Korver, JR Smith, and Carmelo Anthony!
Other than AD, none of those players are worth a damn.

Cousins couldn't even win with Curry and Thompson on his team. Rondo straight up sucks. If he was worth a damn, GS would have kept him. They have plenty of cash now.

NBA 2020

West: Clippers, Jazz, Rockets, Lakers....Portland, maybe; Warriors? (it all hinges on Klay)

East: Bucks, Sixers, Celts, Pacers, Heat (higher if they land Russ)

Nets in 2021, if Durant is even 90% of who he once was.

Lakers slide way back by 2022, since Grandpa LeBron will be done by then.

First of all, Chris Paul is with the Rockets. The Clippers traded for Paul George. This is the same genius that signed a long-term deal with the Thunder and now is demanding a trade to play with Kawhi Leonard.

The Clippers are far from a lock. Kawhi Leonard will miss at least 10-20 games in the regular season for load management.

Paul George is not a player I would trust. He first promised he would deliver a championship to Indiana:

Paul George on wanting to stay: ‘It’s all about trying to bring a championship to Indiana’ | FOX59

A behind the scenes video of the party for Paul George has surfaced | OKC Thunder Wire

Pacer and Thunder fans would agree Paul George is not the answer. Plus he is coming off serious shoulder surgery.

LOL - the apologist for the NBA's number one carpetbagger, Lebron James, is dissing on another player for not staying with his team. Are you for real or a parody of some famous idiot?

As I posted previously, the Raptors were 17-5 without Kawhi in the lineup, most of those games the second game of two nights in a row and before they improved with Gasol. The Raptors also beat the Warriors at Oracle, without Kawhi, when Curry, Durant and Thompson all played. You disrespect the Raptors for no legitimate reason. Getting over the hump, making it to the finals and winning it all is a great confidence boost and character builder for all the Raptors players not named Kawhi and who remain with the team. And Ujiri and Webster are terrific front office management who can find talent that meshes well.

The silver lining in all this, for me, is that LeBron James is now a laughing stock of the entire league and it wouldn't surprise me if he retires (please God) in the next year or next offseason.

Yeah, Lebron is a joke now. True.

As for the Raps...I guess, I let the emotion of the day get the better of me. Clearly the Raptors have more of a chance than the Heat and maybe even the Celtics. And, Indiana needs a lot of things to fall their way to land a three or four seed. Toronto is at least a 4/5, all things being equal...meaning, they do not move the expiring contracts of Lowry and Gasol.

LeBron should have stayed in Cleveland. :)

The Raptors are in full rebuild mode and will likely trade Kyle Lowry, Marc Gasol, and Serge Ibaka before the trade deadline. They are in full rebuild mode. Obviously, you know that. Even Kawhi knew that.

The Raptors will be tanking for the #1 overall pick by the end of the year and they will be scared that LaMelo Ball and his family won't want his son being drafted by the Raptors.

Better to be in rebuild mode than in fail, like the Lakers who are still not even the best team in LA. :lamo

You credit Kawhi for winning a championship, but you know, CanadaJohn even in his heart knows, and the whole world knows that if the Warriors are healthy, the Raptors do not win.

We are not talking about Draymond Green missing one game either.

What does that have to do with the failure of the Lakers?

If you ever have a sane thought, please let us know. Not a chance the Raptors are in "full rebuild mode" as defending champs. More likely that your "dynasty set" Lakers will be in full rebuild mode once the self-centered LeBron realizes he's surrounded by a motley collection of wanna-bees, has-beens, and never-weres and he decides he wants to move on or retire, leaving the Lakers with a full blown mess.

Raptors are a team that build from within, know how to develop players, and have a slew of good, young talent ready to step into more important roles.

Don't be surprised if next year's NBA finals consists of the same two teams as this past year's finals. Proud, talented players like those on the Warriors and Raptors love having the talking heads disrespect and ignore them. And Ujiri is perhaps one of the best judges of talent in the league right now. After all, he saw Leonard for what he was and what he could be with the proper supports to get him there. The Lakers, with LeBron, never even tried to get him last year.

Demarcus Cousins will have a HUGE year. You don't understand the difference between rehab and training. When you rupture your Achilles tendon, you cannot train, you can only rehab. That is a serious injury that takes over a year just to return from. Impossible to stay in shape when you are in a boot.

Cousins won't be rehabbing, he will be training and be able to get in-game shape. The Lakers have two monsters inside that can average 25+ points and grab 12 rebounds. Tell me which team in the NBA that will stop those twin towers?

LeBron will play like Magic, play the point guard and have a lot of success/fun this year!

Food for thought. The Raptors had the chance to trade for Paul George and Russell Westbrook but didn't want to jeopardize their "bright future." If the Raptors had made that deal, Kawhi Leonard would have likely re-signed and they might have had something really special over there.

Cheap ownership just like the Blue Jays.

Owenership; you want to whine about ownership?

Lakers are basically run like the Knicks in a warm climate.

Not cheap ownership, and not like the Blue Jays, thankfully. And not nearly as dumb as the Lakers management/ownership. No team in their right mind would trade for George and Westbrook on those contracts - not even the brain dead Knicks - and the Thunder would have wanted half the Raptors young talent and multiple first round draft picks, crippling the Raptors for a decade or more.

We have to wait a year to see how bad your predictions are, but we won't forget.

You need to stop. The Clippers are the little brother in Los Angeles. Not even a little brother you want to be around. They are like the little brother that does drugs.

Being a Clippers fan is a cry for help. Why would any SANE fan choose to be a fan of the Clippers over the Lakers? Are they sadists? Do they enjoy pain or enjoy being a victim?

The Clippers are like the Mets and Jets.

Clippers
Mets
Jets

The clown franchises.

Yankees
Lakers
Giants

The A teams in their city. Things won't change.
