A real gentleman, and my personal choice as greatest QB of all time.

Legendary Packers HOF QB Starr dies at 85

Bart Starr, a Hall of Fame quarterback who helped build the Green Bay Packers dynasty in the 1960s and was named the Most Valuable Player of the first two Super Bowls, died Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama. He was 85.
Starr won an unprecedented five NFL championships as the Packers' starting quarterback, leading the club to titles in 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966 and 1967. . . .

I agree Star was a great quarterback. Most likely the best that has ever played. I remember the "frozen bowl" against Dallas.
May he RIP.

A post season passer rating of 104.8 and a post season record of 9–1.

RIP Bart. One of the good ones both on and off the field.

A great QB, and will go down as top 10 QB in the playoffs.

RIP

Was there ever a better name for a quarterback than Bart Starr?

It is almost as his parents told the nurses they were naming him Bart because he was destined to be a quarterback.

He was a great QB but greatest of all time is just silly. Any choice other than Unitas, Montana or Brandy simply is not valid

My Dad was a huge Packer's fan. He infected me with the same disease. And we were deep in Bears territory at the time, during what is often touted as the oldest rivalry in NFL football. We never saw our love of the Bears preclude our love of The Pack! And of course, we left room for our love of Notre Dame too!

As to the "oldest rivalry", there's still some in Chicago that will cite the Bears-Cards, with their both being Chicago teams (originally) and also both being among the original founding teams of the NFL.

And as we can see, that Bears-Cards rivalry still seemed to have some juice many years later!

(This is a lot of effort for pre-season game!)

As to the best name...maybe Sonny Sixkiller?

Bart Starr was my hero as a kid. A true gentleman as well. RIP

RIP Bart Starr

Now, the best name for a QB?

Why that would be Chuck Long ... of course! ;)
