With Wilder’s savage 1st round knockout of Breazeale it’s time for Joshua to face a real fight for the first time. Stop fighting tomato cans on home turf fight and fight a real champion in Vegas.

Deontay Wilder's potential fight with Britain's Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua will "probably" take place next year, says the American's manager.

The three heavyweights are signed to different US broadcasters, making negotiations more difficult. Link.

Wilder tends to depend on one big punch, he put Fury down twice but couldn't put his man away on home turf. British fighters haven't done well in Vegas when it's gone to points the last few years.

And yet Wilder is fighting Ortiz again.....

Basically Wilder took the third fight with Showtime so he can cash in on 3 fight deal he signed before he gamble son AJ. I don't blame him but this narrative that AJ is ducking needs to end.

The offers you are referring to were last year and Hearn has denied ever getting an actual offer from Wilders camp...basically it’s bull.
Now he’s actually ducking AJ who said this week he wanted the Wilder fight next...
Twitter is quite rightly blasting Wilder today.

Well if Hearn denied it....

I mean yeh he did lol and he’s come out and said today Wilders camp are an embarrassment.
AJ is stateside this weekend fighting. If Wilder actually wanted to face him he would have been ringside calling him out.
Wilder is fighting an old man this fall where as AJ will be fighting the next mandatory challenge.

Where was AJ at wilder’s fight? Ortiz was there and he got the fight

He was preparing for his fight lol. Point is if Wilder ever actually wanted to fight AJ this year he would have waited till this Saturday.

Again I get it as Wilder signed a three fight deal with Showtime and this will be no3 ( AJ and Fury can not fight on Showtime anymore) so he's getting paid out. I imagine AJ vs Wilder will be April 2020 which is what Hearn also hinted at but right now its all about the money.

April 2020 sounds good, I couldn’t imagine such a big fight being this year anyways.

Yea, Joshua's first fight in the USA & at the Garden in NY. The odds say it's a mismatch tonight but I'm not
so sure.

Sat 6/1 501 Andy Ruiz Jr +1400 o6½ +110
11:00PM 502 Anthony Joshua -1800 u6½ -120

Joshua beat Joseph Parker in a 12 rounder fairly easily but the only loss on Ruiz record was to Parker
113-115, 114-114, 113-115 could have gone either way.

The Garden will be loaded with Latino fans, they'll root heavily for Ruiz. I remember when Roberto Duran coming back
after the 'no mas' fiasco won the 154 pounds title from Davey Moore at the Garden, Moore was from this area but
the crowd was heavily for the Panamanian. Moore said he felt all alone. For a lot of reasons some mentioned I think
Joshua may be in for a surprise tonight! Joshua's last few fights he was cheered on by 70,000 Brits this atmosphere
will be much different!

They are saying the crowd is mostly brits and will heavily favor Joshua

Ruiz is getting booed going to the ring, this fight might as well have been in London

Mods please rename this thread to, BRING ON RUIZ

gotta feel sorry for all the British fans paying mucho dollero to watch their champion get pummeled! I said he was in for a surprise.
For a lot of reasons some mentioned I did think Joshua would be in for a surprise tonight!

It wasn’t the crowd though. Joshua has all the talent in the world but no fire, Ruiz brought the fire

What a shocker... I think Joshua underestimated Ruiz and has paid the price. Liked the twitter post from Tyson Fury afterwards - "rest up, recover and come again."

Let's see what happens.

In a way, Ruiz reminded me a little of Tyson. Just let the fists fly. Left , right, left , right. Just pummel your opponent.

Your opponent becomes a heavy bag and you just got a shot of adrenaline to finish the fight.

Its obvious he didn't prepare for Ruiz. I think he thought he just had to show up and he would win.

Good for Ruiz I hope he enjoys his moment and the hefty pay day for the rematch. Fully expect AJ to recover from this loss and hopefully its a huge reality check for him.

Ruiz only had 6 weeks to get ready for this fight after Joshua's original opponent
failed drug tests.

So they may have been on equal ground here. Ruiz just overpowered him.

Disagree actually, Ruiz had fought 7 weeks ago where has Joshua hadn't fought in 6 months. He trained for a much taller and athletic fighter and has admitted he did little adjustment in his training for Ruiz.
He should have either delayed the fight or cancelled it all together but I think a mixture of his arrogance and Hearn's greed pushed this fight through.
I'm happy for Ruiz and he is going to get a huge pay day but don't be shocked if Joshua destroys him in the rematch, traditionally that's how these Cinderella stories end in the heavyweight division.

Well, we shall just have to wait.

But their rematch is going to generate more interest than this fight meaning larger paychecks. Hmmm, makes you wonder sometimes.

But nonetheless, it will be one hell of a fight.
