Houston High Schooler Matthew Boling Breaks National High School 100 Meter Dash Record

AUSTIN, Texas — Houston Strake Jesuit sprinter Matthew Boling was the star of the University Interscholastic
League Track and Field Championships on Saturday and he did not disappoint.

Strake Jesuit High School runner Matthew Boling broke the 29-year-old national record in the 100 meter dash on Saturday.

Matthew Boling breaks national 100-meter record. Again.

When you see someone like that run in person it just doesn't seem real a human can move that fast. It is almost if they have an extra leg.

And he is only in high school.

Myself and another Jersey guy who also had a football scholarship to play at a Virginia school would come home to see our
then girlfriends & my dad told me don't come home till thanksgiving so when we came back home I stayed at his house.
He showed my a photo of him competing in the New Jersey finals 100 yd. dash. At the starting gate their were 7 blacks &
him. That was in 1960 and even then the idea of whites competing in sprints was diminishing. Over 50 years later this
students unique ability was as astonishing because of his race as it was his time which broke a 29 year old record.
