Wrestlemania? Too long? Too over the top?

Yesterday it was Wrestlemania weekend. Three days of Wrestling shows, Friday it was NXT Takeover (awesome), Saturday it was Hall of fame time (never watch it) and Sunday it was Wrestlemania.

To be honest, Wrestlemania is too long, way too long. When you add to it the pre-show, it is just ridiculously long, way too long.

There were good matches, 4 of the matches didn't even make it to the 5 or so hour Wrestlemania show, including 2 battle royals. One of the shows biggest stars at the moment, Braun Strowman did not even make it to the actual show (just the pre-show).

The first match (Lesnar vs. The beast slayer) was good, the result was satisfactory, nice start to the show.

Styles vs. Orton was OK, not great.

The 4 way battle for the Smackdown title was too much, 4 teams made it way too chaotic.

Shane vs. the Miz was spectacular from the beat down but it did not "set me on fire" in any way shape or form.

The same was true for the fatal 4 way women's tag team title match.

Kofi vs. Daniel Bryan was a great match, really spectacular and entertaining.

Rey Mysterio vs. Samao Joe was terrible, just awful.

Reigns vs McIntyre was a nice result but not a great match

John Cena Doctor of Thuganomics vs. Elias was Great, it was not a match but hell it was good.

Triple H vs. Batista was kind of violent but not kind of interesting.

Corbin vs. Angle was bad, the WWE should have given Angle a final match victory.

Balor vs. Lashley was not that great, it was good but nothing more.

The historic women's match as the end match of Wrestlemania was a great thing, the match was good but it was not enough to save the entire event.

The Takeover match last Friday was just better, it was shorter and more exiting.

It was start to finish top matches. War Raiders vs. Black and Ricochet was awesome. A fitting end to Black and Ricochet's tenure on NXT.

Velveteen Dream vs Riddle was a great match

Pete Dunne against Teutonic terror Walter was a great match too

Fatal 4way for the NXT women's championship was spectacular and fun

Johnny Wrestling vs Adam Cole (and undisputed attitude) in their 2 of 3 falls match was absolutely spectacular. Wall to wall great matches. Just long enough to keep you really glued to the screen.

Has anybody else seen the 2 events and what was your view on the Wrestemania weekend?
I commend Iran for at least being honest about the downing of the airplane, Russia still remains the same old lying rogue state. MH17 Will never be forgotten!!!!

I disagree. Whenever you leave a promotion (or retire), you should always go out on your back. Pro wrestling 101.

I watched Wrestlemania, pre-show and all. It was definitely long, but it did not feel as long as it has in years past. There were definitely places they could cut, but at the end of the day, the WWE tries to give the fans in attendance their money's worth (and it is a lot of money) and they try to get every worker on the card for a Wrestlemania payday.

It is too long, but at least it is for the right reasons.

As far as the matches go, Bryan vs. Kofi was easily the best match of the night, even if they undersold the payoff to the story of the match a little (Kofi should have had a little more offensive momentum going into the pin, to fully payoff the work they had done). The women's main event was sloppy at the start, but morphed into a pretty good match. Unfortunately, the crowd was exhausted at that point. The Cena Thuganomics was the equivalent to a "cheap pop", but I (and many others it seems) enjoyed it nonetheless. After that, nothing else on the card stood out, either for good or bad.

And I barely have time to catch the PPVs right now, so I definitely don't have time to follow the minor leagues (NXT). All in all, though, it was a good night for wrestling.

Here are the highlights, not as great as the complete show (and sadly without the women's match from what I saw) but spectacular enough

As far as I can remember, the last time I watched an entire pro wrestling match was back when Andre the Giant was still around.

Was it entertaining? The NXT show? NXT is a bit like the old wrestling. Not so much glitz, glamour and wrestlers who are not as "slick" as on RAW or Smackdown. Sure, some of the NXT stars will come to RAW/Smackdown. War Raiders/Adam Cole and Johnny Wrestling will go to the "big league" in due course. But for now Johnny Wrestling is the big guy in a smaller pond.

Aleister Black and Ricochet will soon be a belt.

The fact that people talk about professional wrestling like it is an actual sport where the “competitors” earn their results is hilarious.

It is sport entertainment. Their performances are absolutely equal to many an athlete, even if it is trained and already decided beforehand.
