Nfl 2019

I'm watching, and Carolina is getting robbed. Shameful. And I'm a Carolina fan so I'm doubly upset.

This is just one example, it has been that way in GB forever.

Just watch all the holds around Rodgers.

The good news is it has appeared to piss off Carolina.

The tackle at the end of the half was sweet......

Rivalries apart, why would you think that obviously biased refereeing is good news in any way, shape, or form, just because it apparently pisses off a fan base you don't like???

When sports get biased refereeing, all trust is lost. It's no fun to watch. You can never know if a team won a championship on merit, or simply by being favored by the league. There's something utterly revolting in cheering this up. I wouldn't cheer it up even if it happened to our biggest rivals, the Saints and the Falcons. I'd rather see the Falcons and the Saints win honestly than see them lose dishonestly. Sure, I prefer to see them lose honestly, but rejoicing at a biased league that pushes favorite teams through the finishing line just because it eventually also hurts my rivals, is not something that I do.

It's just disgusting that the league is now routinely allowing this kind of thing to happen, and there is no excuse or circumstance that will make me perceive it as good news.

When refereeing scandals started to plague the NBA, I actually stopped watching. These days, I only watch college basketball. I don't know if it is still happening in the NBA, and I have no desire to find out. It was one and done for me when they found a ref who was taking money on the side to change the result of games. I mean, at the time, only one... but one thinks, looking back at very questionable decisions that were already pissing me off at the time, that this was just the one who got caught. I gave up on the league all together.

Like I said, I love too much the sport of football to give it up, as it is by far my favorite sport. I like basketball but it's not my favorite sport so it was a bit easier to drop the NBA. But I'm afraid that at some point I'll be so disgusted that the NFL will lose its attraction. All the BS roughing the passer calls are already rubbing me the wrong way, and now, this.

Carolina lost a game we should have won. The refs gifted at least 10 points to Green Bay, and the last play of the game was actually a TD by CMC, and he was called short. Anyway, horrible play calling by Rivera and his staff (Rivera needs to go!) also made us lose the game. We have a formidable player like Chris McCaffrey, and we have a zillion opportunities to score a TD within a couple of yards of the end zone as time winds down, CMC has punched this kind of TD in countless times (he's pretty unstoppable in this situation) but he is just standing there without being given the ball. The very same passing call is called each time and accomplishes nothing, it keeps being tried and tried... (as the attempts were multiplied by off-side calls) until finally with 4 seconds left CMC is given the ball and scores a TD as time expires. The refs manage to not call it a TD... and the game is over. If CMC had been given the opportunity earlier, even with the biased refereeing he would have been able to try again and push the ball a couple more inches from the bad spot the refs picked. But no. Throw and throw and throw although it was not working, and CMC only gets the ball too late.

Fire Ron Rivera!

What I meat was it appeared to piss off Carolinas defense so they would come out and play harder.

I was not in anyway referring to fans.

Oh, OK, sorry, I misunderstood you. My apologies. Unfortunately it didn't happen, as we have no running defense... which is another reason why we lost this game, and others. Still, we fought hard and should have won if not for the refs.

Yes, I like hockey. I attended in person all playoff games until the end when the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. It cost me a fortune. My wife was pretty upset at me, for buying all those expensive tickets, but I'm glad that I was able to witness first hand the only North Carolina professional team that ever won a national championship.

And the 'Canes are good again, this year (after having made the playoffs last year for the first time in a decade). So, yes, I do watch, and I find it to be a great sport, very fast and exciting. It takes enormous athleticism to win the Stanley Cup.

But unfortunately for me given the state of the NFL, I still love football better.

Well I'm originally from Minnesota, and the state of hockey has never won a Stanley cup.

I have never Even laid eyes on the Stanley cup...

Btw you are correct that last play was a touchdown and if it had been called so on the field it would not have been overturned.

I have always said to win in green bay you have to figure you need to win by at least ten extra points because that is what refs will spot them...

Yes. It was a TD all right. But as soon as I saw it, I realized the refs wouldn't call it such. They were favoring GB all game, so, given that Chris wasn't 10 miles inside the end zone, they'd call him short of it.

Poor CMC. He is the darling of fantasy football owners, because individually in his stats he is such a spectacular player, MVP caliber, but he plays for a team that has only him at his level, and for a coach who is a full-blown idiot.

CMC with Bill Bellichick would result in him being a legendary player, with a shot at being seen as the best RB of all time. Even with Rivera and the Panthers he already has a shot at this status; imagine if he played for the Patriots!

Will the Hawks be the first team to hand the 49'ers a loss this year? I have high hopes! I'm also starting Russel Wilson in the DP Fantasy league tonight!

RIP Charles Rogers. A talented WR for the Lions.

The 1st half of the NFL season there may have been doubt who the worst team in the league. Now? There is no longer any doubt, the Bengals own that dubious title.

Football is selling entertainment, so it makes sense NFL executives want to make sure ratings are up.

Ratings would go down if all of its star QBs go on IR. The NFL needs good storylines and you can't have good storylines without star QB to write and talk about.

That's one problem with MMA. MMA is most popular when you have a compelling/dominant fighter like Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor in the sport. The problem with MMA is a great fighter can go from hero to zero in a short amount of time due to the violent nature of the sport.

The NFL is a QB league. They sell millions when Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Brees, etc are playing well. I have no problem with the NFL trying to protect and its investments.

A good weekend of football just passed.
Redskins did not play, so therefore did not lose.

In college:
Minnesota won, announcing themselves as a rising power.
Illinois became bowl eligible.
Indiana was ranked.
Alabama lost.

And finally:
Dallas Cowboys lost.

As I said, a good weekend.

MVP so far: Russell Wilson. Lamar Jackson is a system QB that is playing well but will be exposed in the playoffs.

Defensive MVP so far: Minkah Fitzpatrick: More ints in his seven games as a Steeler than his two years with the Dolphins.

Biggest surprise team: Oakland Raiders. A borderline playoff team, no AB, no Mack, no Cooper. IMO they are close to being a contender.

Hawks are all over SF tonight. Shocking?

KC, NO and SF losing would be a hell of a week.

The best game of the season so far, a spectacular Seattle at San Francisco, with very eventful 10-minute overtime, ends with Seattle beating the last undefeated team. The Miami Dolphins veterans drink champagne for another year, with their record intact.

Patriots already had a perfect regular season. In fact, the Patriots went 16-10 and the Dolphins went 14-0.... far more impressive.

Yeah, right, perfect regular season, who cares when you then lose the Super Bowl? The issue is, the Dolphins were the undefeated champions, a feat nobody else has matched, so far.

Homer statement of the year right there.

Patriots 2007, 18-1--lost Superbowl

Bears 1985, 18-1, beat Patriots in Superbowl 46-10

Now that was impressive.
