    Now that was impressive.
Homer statement of the year? Big failure. I have never, ever rooted for the Dolphins, not even close. I have no sympathy whatsoever for the Dolphins (actually, much the opposite). I support only two NFL teams; I added one when I moved to a different state, so I support the one from the previous state (loosely now, since I moved 16 years ago, but I still watch their games when I can - it's off-market for me - and I still do root for them, although they haven't been a good team for ages) and the one from my current state. Hint: I've never, ever lived in Florida.

Now, this said, I'm not blind to facts.

FACT: The Miami Dolphins were the only UNDEFEATED NFL National Champions. Period, full stop. It's a FACT, not opinion.

Again, nobody gives a f.... for the regular season records, if then you fail in the playoffs. Nobody who thinks, I mean. Or, certainly no WINNERS think so. For losers, maybe it's great to do well in the regular season even if they lose in the playoffs... they can still say, "oh, well, at least we had fun during the regular season." That's a consolation prize. Not the real prize.

Now, indeed, the Bears' accomplishment in 1985 was much bigger than the Patriots' accomplishment in 2007, for the simple fact that the Bears were the f....... National Champions in 1985, while the Patriots were NOT the National Champions in 2007.

Sure, the Patriots have several very impressive accomplishments. That's also a fact that I won't deny. But, FACT: The Patriots were never the UNDEFEATED National Champions. That honor, so far, belongs exclusively to the Dolphins.

As for the 2007 18-1 Patriots record which included a Super Bowl defeat to the then lowly New York Giants, I'll tell you what: that's not exactly an accomplishment. That's actually THE BIGGEST CHOKE in NFL History. If I were a Patriots' fan, I'd be ashamed of that, not proud. Again, the Patriots have plenty of phenomenal accomplishments to celebrate, but the 2007 season is NOT one of them. Because, see, the Patriots are winners. Celebrating a second-place finish if for losers; for those whose best record is to at least finish second. Nope, the Patriots are very used to finishing first... so finishing second is nothing other than failure, for them. Go watch a re-run of Belichick's and Tom Brady's Super Bowl post-game interviews in 2007 if you can find them, and I guarantee that they weren't happy, and weren't celebrating. After all, they had just lost an opportunity to tie the Dolphins' accomplishment of being undefeated national champs, but choked and failed to do it. What exactly should they be celebrating?

What you call a lucky play, most people call a legendary NFL moment, one that will be remembered forever and ever, one that was a thing of beauty, when David against all odds knocked out Goliath in the most thrilling and unlikely manner.

Patriots fans making fun of that, is the most misguided and biased comment they could issue. It's actually kind of sad. It betrays their jealousy that the lowly Giants stole away their shiny perfect season, and did so in the most gorgeous possible manner. So, they keep making excuses... saying that if they played 10 times that season, the Pats would crush the Giants 9 out of 10... maybe. But the problem with this idea, is that it can only be expressed by using IF. If this, if that. Now, the REALITY is that the Giants took the candy from the mouth of Patriots, and did that in rather spectacular fashion. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. The Giants won. The Patriots lost, in the biggest choke in all of NFL History. 18 wins, and they had to lose one game... THE game. THE one that counts. The Super Bowl.

    LOL, too funny.

Since my son has been born ( his mother is from Boston) the Patriots have never failed to make the AFC championship game....he is 9.

Safe to say Patriots fans are over that one loss a decade ago. Also the biggest choke job in NFL history was 28-3.

Hence (the bold) why I know the NFL is rigged.

It’s not rigged it’s just that the NFL is full of **** teams and dumb head coaches. Most of what the patriots get right is common sense stuff and clock management.

Like I said, I don't deny that Patriots' fans have a lot to celebrate. I was just saying that 2007 is definitely not a reason for a fan of a winning team like the Pats to celebrate. Finishing second is great for mediocre teams, but not for the Pats' dynasty.

That 28-3 choke was maybe the second biggest choke, allowing a lead to disappear. But Atlanta's season wasn't perfect thus far, so, I consider 2007 as the biggest choke, and 28-3 as the second biggest. Hey, I hate Atlanta anyway so if you want to reverse and call that one the biggest choke, fine with me.

By the way, Atlanta's choke was not even an isolated record: the Bucs have also lost after a 28-3 lead, and their collapse happened in only one quarter, the 4th, while Atlanta's was spread over three quarters. Look up the Bucs at the Cardinals on 11/8/1987. Sure, it wasn't the Super Bowl, but it was even worse in terms of choking, all in one quarter.
