Redskins Off Season 2019

Mel Kiper Jr.: Haskins is the most accurate passer in this class, and he's a natural touch thrower. He's going to sit in the pocket and drop dimes. He's raw -- he started only one season at Ohio State -- but he could be a star, and he was No. 7 overall on my board.

the only reason why they got him is that the Giants passed him over for Daniel Jones. I think DJ will be a better QB however the Giants GM says he could see jones sitting for the next 3 years because he views Eli Manning similar to Aaron Rodgers.

We shall see.

The Redskins wanted Dwayne Haskins. He wanted to be a Redskin. At the draft, it all worked out.
Throughout the draft process, the quarterback had a feeling that the Redskins were the team that wanted him most. "They loved me a little bit more," he said.

LOL.

He is a giants fan:

Haskins grew up in New Jersey before eventually moving to Maryland before high school began, and his Giants roots run deep. He paid close attention to the team's stats, especially when it came to RB Tiki Barber.

"I played 'Madden' a lot, and he was really good running the football," Haskins said. "The whole offense was nice. Plaxico [Burress], Jeremy Shockey, Eli [Manning], Ahmad Bradshaw. I was basically the stats guy from my family. I would know everybody's height and weight, what college they went to."

Haskins mpressed as a redshirt sophomore this season, with 4,580 passing yards and 47 touchdowns over 13 games -- both of which are Big 10 conference records. However, there are a few quarterbacks like Justin Herbert and Drew Lock in this 2019 class that experts rank over him.

So, if he decides to take the leap to the NFL, Haskins would be more than happy to trade in his Buckeyes red to don the Big Blue.

"I've been a Giants fan for a long time," he said.

Kind of disturbing he is a Tiki Barber fan. That guy was a team cancer with the Giants.

From the link in #53:

Still, the Redskins had a good idea Haskins would be theirs if they were patient. The New York Giants, whom Haskins had been linked to all winter, had fallen in love with Duke’s Daniel Jones and were certain to use the sixth pick on him. When they did, Haskins was not surprised. Two picks earlier, his agent had told him it would happen. Haskins noted that with a dryness that suggested he would not forget the slight.
“I’m just looking forward to being able to compete against those guys for the rest of my career,” he said Thursday.
“He’s going to be a beast when he plays the Giants,” Springs said with a laugh.

I hear Colin Kaepernick might be available :lamo
id make him get on he knees and beg for forgiveness, only then would I allow him to carry the Gatorade, rub players feet, and ride the bench.

Jay Gruden won't be able to help him. He runs an outdated scheme. The West Coast Offense was relevant a decade ago. Today you need innovation and imagination.

His body of work with Kirk Cousins, RG3, and Andy Dalton.... mediocre imo.

Sure. I guess that's why his recent OC is now a head coach.

Cousins, RG3 and Dalton did not suddenly improve after parting with Jay Gruden.

The Redskins did better under Jay Gruden with a better GM, Scot McCloughan. Without a good offensive line, Quarterbacks are limited. A GM can motivate players by keeping promises.

rg3 did his best work with the Shanahan family however that is a differrent subject matter.

Redskins are going to suck for the foreseeable future.......

Redskins are going to suck for the foreseeable future.......

To be financially successful, the Redskins just need to avoid getting blown out in the first half. As long as the Redskins are not too far behind at the half, people will continue to watch past half-time, on TV, and those people attending the game, will buy concessions a the half.

The Redskins have made some improvements for the offensive line this Spring. They upgraded the Tight Ends coach. They addressed the Quarterback depth situation. I am hopeful for the Redskins making the playoffs this year. At least staying in playoff contention till December.

lol. I am not sure why Haskins asked permission to Joe Theismann to wear #7. He was an INT machine.

What is Bruce Allen thinking?

"Rumors and speculation have surrounded the Washington Redskins and franchise left tackle Trent Williams for days.

Williams didn’t show up to minicamp and the rumors suggest the reasoning ranges from financial to others. Either way, the Redskins electing to move Williams would have big ramifications on the cap.

For the most part, moving Williams would provide big cap relief for the Redskins, as Spotrac explained above. The dead cap numbers are a small price to pay for the massive return the Redskins would undoubtedly get for moving a player of Williams’ caliber.

Then again, it’s hard to imagine the Redskins would ever want to move Williams in the first place. He’s going to need a new deal now as opposed to later, but they aren’t equipped to lose one of the NFL’s best offensive linemen at a time they’re trying to break in a new franchise quarterback like Dwayne Haskins."

Here’s what a Trent Williams trade would do to Redskins’ cap space

"Coach Jay Gruden acknowledged Wednesday that left tackle Trent Williams is frustrated with the Redskins’ medical staff over their handling of a benign tumor on his scalp, but stopped short of confirming a report that the seven-time Pro Bowler wants out from the team.

CBS Sports reported that Williams has demanded a trade or release from the Redskins because of how the medical issue was handled. The report added Williams has “vowed” not to play for Washington again.

“Well, I know he’s frustrated,” Gruden said. “Any time you have something done, the procedure like that of that magnitude, you want to find the reason. You wish something maybe could have been done differently or different timing. But our doctors are very good. I know they did the best they can. I know they have plenty of degrees. I know they did the right thing in their mind."

Few incentives for Trent Williams negotiations before 7-25-19, the start of training camp.

"The Redskins 2019 training camp begins on Thursday, July 25 at 9:45 a.m. ET and runs to the team's final practice on Saturday, August 11."

On Friday afternoon, the Washington Redskins released its 2019 training camp schedule, set to begin July 25. Training camp will take place at Bon Secours Training Center in Richmond, Va. for the seventh straight year. "

[h=1]QB Smith: Big step will be learning to run again[/h]In his first public comments since suffering a devastating leg injury in November, Redskins quarterback Alex Smith says he hasn't abandoned hope of playing football again but knows there are a number of steps to get there.

"A report from Sunday night shows that former Redskins Super Bowl MVP quarterback Mark Rypien was arrested on a 4th Degree Assault/Domestic Violence charge.

The incident occurred in Spokane, Washington, where Rypien lives. The former Redskins QB has a prior history with domestic violence as well. "

"I suffer from a complex stew of mental health conditions," Rypien said in a 2018 interview with KHQ. "Dark places, depression, anxiety, addictions, poor choices, poor decisions, brought about by dozens of concussions and thousands of sub-concussive injuries from playing this sport."

Rypien is most famous for quarterbacking the Redskins 1991 Super Bowl team. That year he completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for more than 3,500 yards with 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. in the Super Bowl win over Buffalo, he completed 18 of 33 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns..."
