Major League Baseball 2019

I know.. The 1st base bag is in fair territory, but the 'lane/lines' to 1st base are in foul territory. So to run straight across the bag the runner actually has to run where Turner was running, in fair territory, which is not in the 'lane' to 1st base.

So technically the call last night was correct, BUT there was no intent by Turner to interfere with the throw, so it was a stupid call.

I freely admit that I know nothing, but I watched replay after replay of Turner's run to first base and still don't understand where the heck he was supposed to go to avoid the "interference" call.

In the lane- in foul territory.

Shifting topic a bit - does anyone like Joe Buck? He's pretty well despised in Houston. He often shows a bias (more with the New York teams than Washington. He also mispronounces player names (or says the wrong name), says obvious things, and repeats what the other commentator just said. Then there are the odd tangents he goes on, like which players are sitting together in the dugout. I'm sure part of it is the fact he spends most of the regular season with other teams, and is more familiar with them.

I'm curious though - do those in other parts of the country see this? Do you find him annoying?

Where was he supposed to run to? I mean, how could Turner have avoided this?

He could run in the first base running lane - the 3 foot wide lane between the foul line and another line drawn for that purpose. It's why the lane is there.

Tight game so far.

Somebody sent me a "Joe Buck Bingo" card. Here is part of one row:

Mentions Soto's age or birthday
References baby shark
Mentions Turner's broken fingers

I had to walk away from the TV. The tension was making me spastic.

I think Joe Buck does a fine job. As a boy I used to listen to his father, Jack Buck, broadcast St. Louis Cardinals games.

Nats!

Holy Crap!

Six outs to go.

Nats!

Holy Crap!

Six outs to go.

Crazy series. Nationals win 4 games on the road yet lose 3 @ home.

Astros window has closed. Cole is signing with LA. Verlander can't buy a ws win.

I give credit to the Nationals. They beat two elite teams in the Dodgers and Astros.

FINISHED THE FIGHT!

Lots of fireworks going off right now:2dance::2dancing:

World Champion Washington Nationals

Congrats Jack! Great series! I tip my proverbial hat to the Nationals and all their fans! Perceived Underdogs kept believing... exceeded expectations to totally earn the title of Indisputable 2019 Champs!

Wow! Double Wow! The Nationals exploded in the 7th, 8th and 9th!

Stay in the fight!

A victory for grit and professionalism.

Nats’ Park looked like a fun place to be tonight. That’s certainly a new ‘thing’ that I like in our current times. Congrats to our resident Nationals’ fans. Great Series against a Worthy Opponent.

Corbin played the role of an awesome piggyback starter, something the Nats have been good at in recent times. Max is such a professional. I liked his 1 through 25 comment. Strasburg was excellent. Great team.

I figured a team with Max & Strasburg had a chance & the oddsmakers didn't give them much of a chance.
Just casual fan who used to be a fanatic until I turned 20. Actually I didn't see a Washington game all year & only knew 2 guys on the whole team
before the series. Knowing BB history I actually knew more names of the last Wash WS champs in 24: Johnson, Marberry, Rice, Goslin & Judge I think
were on that team. Saw every game & was on pins & needles in most of them hoping for my new favorite team the Nats. Now I know the names
of most of them Soto & Rendon & kendrick were clutch Strasburg was huge & Max 3X Cy Young winner was once again solid & a real gamer

As I said when the Series was going back to Houston. The Nats have the Astros just where they wanted them.

7 games and the home team didn't win a single game. Just when you thought as a sports fan you've seen it all.

Amazing and congrats to the Nats.

Great game and a great outcome. Congrats to the Nats. As a Detroit, it is wonderful to see Max get that ring. Well done!

Seven road team victories.... we will never see that again. Amazing!!!!

As soon as the Nats surpassed the Astros, the latter seems to lose faith in themselves. Then the Nats got back to scoring later in the game, after the 2nd out, where they've been excelling.
Never could have envisioned this in May!
This is what guts and grit look like.

I can't wait until the home season opener, 2020!

I wonder how the TV ratings did for last night's game.

I didn't see a lot of buzz about it. So, I suspect average at best.

I agree - Buck does a fine job.

And I like the whole baby shark thing despite it is completely inane.
