Major League Baseball 2019

Any game the astros don't start verlander and Cole is a must win for the yankees.

5-0 looks like NYY have this one under control.

I doubt anything has changed. It was cold last night in St. Louis.

I promised Mrs. Linc I wouldn’t post while I was in the mountains — for a week — different world. The only good part of driving through Eastern Colorado and anywhere in Nebraska today was MLB on XMS. Tomorrow it’s NFL on the way home. I had Nats radio the whole game.

You may remember who told you who the only NL team was that could beat the Dodgers — in June. I have to give credit to Rizzo. He’s got four #1/#2 starting pitchers at this moment. MAT is their best defensive outfielder when the rest are 100%, and he hit today. With the Cards supposedly having a great bullpen, they left Wainwright in one too many innings.

I had to smirk at those who thought the Twins would sweep the Nats or Cards. That whole division was 64 games under 0.500, and every one of those five were under 0.500 against the NL.

Yup, the air is the invisible hand that can move the game according to its whims.

A big win for the Yankees. A dominant win for the Yankees.

First off, Masahiro Tanaka in 7 playoff starts has a 1.32 era. He's a big-game pitcher. Since he only threw 68 pitches, I may strongly consider starting him game 4 on 3 days rest.

Cubs fans must be really pissed off.

They traded away Gleybar Torres who is better than anyone on the Cubs roster - including Javy Baez, Kris Bryant, and Rizzo.

They also traded Eloy Jimenez, another future all-star for Jose Quintana a pitcher who is average now.

Talk about two really bad trades! Torres can play gold glove 2b or SS (probably 3b too) and already the best power-hitting 2b or SS in baseball. This at age 22. WOW!

The Yankees need to go for the ko tomorrow. If they win tomorrow, the series is over! Although I am not expecting Paxton to outpitch Verlander, I wouldn't be surprised!

I’m sure by now you’ve heard the talk. Which ‘batch’ of balls will we see tonight and tomorrow night? All three LCS games have gone under in 5 and 9 innings. I haven’t checked the previous series yet. Just got home from 600 miles on I-80. Iowa was NASCAR nuts.

Analytics are saying the ball isn’t traveling as far, when all other factors are eliminated. You can bet over/under bettors like me are paying close attention, though I’m currently not betting.

Haven’t checked home plate yet for tonight on covers.com . Before the game starts, I’m not buying Paxton’s recent improvement, but would never put down 180 to win 100 against the NYY bullpen and lineup. I would go over 4 runs in 5 innings tonight, which I rarely do.

I’ll hit your NAsTieS later. I fully expect the over/under to go over the current 3.5 runs in 5 innings tomorrow night. Both starters regularly give up runs early and then settle down. Once you get everyone healthy, your lineup will approach the Yanks. You’ll still need a 3rd reliever eventually.

I really don't know or care about betting.
Weather gets colder in October.

This game is a bloodbath.

Both teams desperately need to win.

Game over.

CC Sabathia coming in. Almost a guaranteed run for the Astros.

[h=1]Aces high: Ranking the postseason's best starting pitchers[/h]Verlander, Strasburg, Scherzer, Tanaka, Flaherty and, yes, Gerrit Cole. These playoffs have had some great starting pitching. We rank the best of the best.

Because of the home run feast season MANY so called 'experts' were downplaying the importance of pitching this postseason. Especially starting pitching.

So far they've been dead wrong.. Good pitching still stops good hitting.

Walk off HR, was it off CC?

It was off J.A Happ.

Outside of Tanaka, Paxton, and Severino, they have no real quality starters.

Game 4 I would hope they put in Tanaka on 3-days rest or start Chad Green. Happ and Sabathia have no chance against the Astros hitters.

Wow! Break up the Nats. 6-0 in the fifth, about to go up 3-0.

The National League is the JV league. They stand almost zero chance against the Astros or Yankees.

Brian Dozier will be starting when the Nationals need a DH in the AL games. Dozier wouldn't even make the Yankees or Astros roster.

Yeah, but AL pitchers can't bunt.

In 1963 Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale shut down Yankee hitters and the Dodgers swept the Series 4-0.

Stephen Strasburg keeps Nationals' rotation on a serious roll

Washington's starters have been as good this postseason as any team's ever, putting the Nats within one win of the World Series.

Stras put in a superlative performance last night, and he dug deep, way deep, to pull out of the top of the 7th. Although the Nats' batting put up 8 runs, last night's game was all about the pitching.
It was electric.

Time for the Yankees to go big or go home.
