Major League Baseball 2019

Haven’t seen how bad Scherzer’s back is yet. If one is riding the Nats and Cubs to win every game, and the White Sox and Reds to lose every game, they’re 7-1 so far after the ASG.

Over/unders are still the most intriguing for me, such as Boyd/Keller a dead under yesterday. I’m waiting for legal online here in Illinois, though I’m always pondering a trip to Nevada.

Red Sox get Cashner and A’s get Bailey.

Max is in the Nats' dugout today, bouncing around as normal.

Cincinnati 17; Colorado 9

Reds vs. Rockies - Box Score - July 13, 2019 - ESPN

Bengals Broncos perhaps?

I gave up on the game after the 3rd quarter when it was 10-9. Reds scored another touchdown in the 4th quarter. Over/under is at 13.5 u-25 today, with Mahle v. Senzatela, 7.5 o-15 in five innings. Five inning totals now look like nine inning totals from years gone past.

I use an app I don’t have to download for radio; freebaseballradio. I don’t always get a game though. Yesterday, the station was out of Pueblo, CO. I learn a lot listening to different radio guys.

Go Cubs Go....Go Cubs GOOOO, Hey Chicago, whaddya say? Cubs are gonna WIN today.......

Heyward is worth the price of admission, just for his glove. Good thing the win is blowing in a bit today for Quintana. He’s too inconsistent right now.

Always interesting to see how rotations change. Doolittle is your Chapman, but you still need a RH reliever.

Reds/Rocks: 4-4 in the 2nd.

holy crap!

Your pitchers have been prone to early big innings lately, and then settling down. Castillo and Gray need to keep pitching well. Apparently, the Reds started this post-ASG nose-diving in 2014.

The worst part for the Reds right now will be next week, when they recover from their Ricky Mountain high. Being the baseball geek 🤓 that I am, I checked each team that played there this year. The Dodgers had a 6-game losing streak the first time they left Colorado.

Oh, during the 188-minute delay last night, they had the Rockies health and strength guys on. Pretty cool 😎. Tart Cherry 🍒Juice came up, which I’ve been drinking for about a year now. Expensive, but worth it. I dilute the 100% stuff with juices 🥤 like crancherry. Too much meat 🥩 and sugar causes problems for older folks.

10-6 top of 6th. O/U was 13.5 right?

That was supposed to be Koda Glover, but he's been on the IL all year. Or Trevor Rosenthal, but that experiment didn't pan out.

Dodgers need a new closer. Who can they get by the trade deadline? Any sellers looking to dump a hot arm out of the bullpen?

Harvey's career in NY fizzled because he couldn't stay out of clubs, he was caught partying many times late into the night even on nights before games he was pitching in the next day.. So My GOD why did a team in L.A. sign him. Talk about going from the pan into the fire. Reminds me of when the Angels signed Josh Hamilton.. It could NOT end well. L.A. or NY aren't places to get sober or try to stop partying.

Angels give up on Harvey, DFA former All-Star

he Los Angeles Angels have given up on their $11 million investment in Matt Harvey, designating the 30-year-old right-hander for assignment Friday.

Harvey was 3-5 with a 7.09 ERA in 12 starts. He gave up six runs, seven hits and five walks over six innings in a 6-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Thursday night.

"The decision was made because we felt like it would increase our chance of winning games," Angels manager Brad Ausmus said after discussing the move with general manager Billy Eppler. "Matt was a very well-liked teammate, a guy that everyone pulled for, including myself. But we're in the business of winning baseball games. In talking to Billy, we just felt like this was the best move to make in order to help us win games."

Once dubbed "The Dark Knight," Harvey was among baseball's most dominant starters for a time with the New York Mets. He started the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field but hurt his elbow later that summer and never consistently regained his 98 mph fastball or command following Tommy John surgery.

Harvey lost his spot in the Mets' rotation after four starts last year and had a 10.50 ERA in four relief appearances. When he refused to accept a minor league assignment, the Mets traded him to the Cincinnati Reds. Harvey went 7-7 with a 4.50 ERA in 24 starts for the Reds, became a free agent and signed with the Angels.

He did not pitch for Los Angeles between May 23 and July 13 because of a strained back, and his fastball velocity averaged 92 mph in two starts after his return. He gave up 48 runs and 63 hits in 59⅔ innings this season with 39 strikeouts and 29 walks.

"He's not throwing 97, but he's not throwing 89 either," Ausmus said. "He's got four pitches. He's got the stuff to get major league hitters out. He just has to find a way to harness it."

The Angels called up right-hander Jaime Barria from Triple-A Salt Lake City before the series opener against the Seattle Mariners on Friday. Barria struggled in his return to the majors, giving up 10 runs on nine hits in 3⅔ innings of relief as the Angels lost 10-0.

The Dodger's bullpen gave up a 6 run lead to one of the worst teams in baseball. They needed a bomb in the bottom of the eighth to pull it out. They won't make it to the WS with this bullpen. They probably won't even get out of the LDS.

Good to hear.

Dodgers have another 6 run lead against the Marlins. With this bullpen I would consider it a close game.

Good to hear.

Ten days, three series, to the trade DEADline. Teams just finishing their first home stand or first road trip. You can add the Pirates and Reds to the Marlins as sellers, though I doubt MIA trades much.

Brewers just lost Woodruff. Starters are a premium for lots of teams. These ten days through 7/31 are a marquee portion of the season, especially with the new trade rule.

Felipe Vazquez is the best bet although he would probably cost a high level prospect.

I like the idea of getting Aaron Sanchez from the Blue Jays and moving him to the bullpen.

I am surprised the Dodgers gave up on Homer Bailey so fast. I could see him really doing well in relief. I think the Athletics got a real steal there.

Dodgers are mental on their prospects. They're always afraid of giving up the next Kershaw or Bellinger. I guess you can't blame them but the window is closing on this crop of Dodgers. Kershaw and Jansen are on the downslope and some of their young stars will soon command huge paychecks.

Signature win by the yankees.

You know what? **** the Angels. There, I said it.

Gonna be a fun week..

I don't know what this means.. I'm guessing the Mets picked him up to trade him. Would be funny if Sydergaard is part of the deal because the Blue Jays is the team they got Syderguaad from.. Anyway well I thought the Mes were going to be sellers, not buyers.

MLB trade deadline: Mets reportedly land Marcus Stroman in shocking blockbuster with Blue Jays..

The New York Mets have reportedly reached an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays on a trade to acquire right-hander Marcus Stroman, pending the exchange of medical information, according to MLB.com's Jon Morosi.

Stroman, 28, is under team control through the 2020 season. In 20 starts this year, he's compiled a 3.06 ERA (148 ERA+) and 2.74 strikeout-to-walk ratio. His 57.1 groundball percentage was the highest among American League starting pitchers, and ranks second in the majors among qualified pitchers behind Dakota Hudson, per FanGraphs. Stroman made his first All-Star Game this season, and has averaged six innings per appearance.

Stroman was among the top available starters, making his acquisition a surprising one by the Mets, who are not in contention. Yet it's evidence that Brodie Van Wagenen and company intend to attempt to thread a fine needle of trading Noah Syndergaard without punting on their 2020 competitive chances.

CBS Sports will have more on this story as it develops.

The Marcus Stroman trade actually wasn't that bad for the Mets because they didn't give up an elite prospect.

I would guess if things go south next year they can trade Stroman and get equal or more value than what they gave up for him.

Now the Robinson/Diaz trade was a disaster.

I think the Mets are operating on the basis to just make trades to block the Yankees. The Mets need to realize they cannot operate a baseball team like that. If the Yankees are offering the best deal for Zach Wheeler, they need to trade him to the Yankees!

Thanks for the post. Taking a break from farm yard work. Rays made a good trade. They still need a starter. Brewers could use two starters. Back later.
