Major League Baseball 2019

Javy Baez just avoided a tag on a ground ball to first base.

Cubs Talk on Twitter: "JAVY JUST BROKE FREESE'S ANKLES… "

Amazing.

This is why I own this shirt:

How about those Yankees?

Came back from 5 -0 to win their 6th straight last night with 7 starters still out of the line up. Not for nothing, I think when everyone comes back and is healthy, the team will be no better.

Watching the Yankees now is fun. A walk a single a bunt a RBI fly to right...

Last year (and I suspect the second half of this year when everyone is back) it was home run, strike out, strike out, strike out, home run.

The number of injuries is a cause of concern. They may need to investigate the training staff. Too many injuries at the same time. A lot of these players do not look like they are well-conditioned.

Same thing my daughter (athlete) pointed out.

I read that all these guys do is some running in the spring and only weight training during the season.

Not good.

Game started at 9, it's 1030. We are still in the 4th.

It's only 2-0 so it's not like lots of people have been on base.....

Freakin baseball.

11 Pm and its the top of the 5th!

What's that? 4 outs in the last half hour?

19 games each against only 4 teams in your division continues to be 4 games too many. 15 would save each team 16 games. Play 8 games against each of the other 10 teams in your league. Add 2 to IL to make 22, adding back the 2 lost from your rival. Perfect 162.

Have the winner of the season series win the 162-game tie-breaker. Game 163 not only messes up that winner’s rotation, it causes the #1 team to have too many days off, hurting their pitching, hitting, and defense.

Today is day 32 of the 186-day season. Long way to go. I like the Thursday starts to the season. New stadiums in bad weather cities should have a retractable roof. Milwaukee does and it’s a great venue. Minnesota didn’t.

How crazy was it that Juan Soto, Victor Robles and Carter Kieboom each homered on Sunday for the Nationals? The last team with three players 21 or younger to homer in the same SEASON (let alone game) was the 1993 Expos with Cliff Floyd, Wil Cordero and Rondell White.

Greetings, Jack. :2wave:

Crazy enough to make it one of the questions asked years from now when historical events are being recalled in a particular year! :applaud

Cain robs someone of a HR once a week..

Too bad it doesn't help in my fantasy league. At least he didn't rob Cano.

When's Trea Turner coming back? Great start for my fantasy team until be broke his finger. Never expose your finger on a bunt. I learned that in little league.

I was watching that game. The look on Frazier face was classic. Lol

But hey as a baseball fan you got to just tip your hat and say great play..

I have Cano on a couple of my fantasy teams too. Looks like he's out for a few games.

An ‘allowed’ ERA would certainly tell us more about a relief pitcher. Allowing one run to score that counts on another pitcher’s ERA for your one out of work would be a 27.00 allowed ERA.

Looks like the Mariners have met their match. Cubs won last night and are up 9-0 now behind a Lester one hitter.

The Cubs have been rolling, and haven’t lost a series since the first week of April.

LOL

Here are the scores of the last few M's games:

5/1 Mariners 0, Cubs 11
4/30 Mariners 5, Cubs 6
4/29 Mariners 1, Rangers 14
4/28 Mariners 1, Rangers 15

That pitching staff is a mess.

Thor did a superb imitation of Bob Gibson today, with a 9-inning shutout and homering for the only run of the game.

Gibson never did it.

In fact, only ten pitchers in baseball have ever hit a HR and won a game 1-0.

I’m a bit confused by the graphic on this (from Chris Kamka- CWS statistician) tho... not sure how the 1915 game is the major leagues.

Edit: I figured it out... it’s the Federal League...which only went one season or so.

Yeah the Mets position players have scored exactly ZERO runs the last 2 games. But thanks to Syndergaard they came out of those 2 games 1-1.

That said the Reds pitching so far this year has been surprisingly good. Reds are # 1 in the NL, #2 in the MLB(behind Tampa).. I doubt anyone expected that. They are better than the Dodgers? Mets(25th)? Astros? Indians? Nats(24th)? Very impressive.

Mets are 25th? I think they were dead last until the last 2 games(1-0 and 1-0)

Mea culpa — that will teach the retired teacher to check. It was certainly a Gibson/Carlton type of game.

NL is back over 0.500. Weather is miserable. MLB is my favorite.

I’m with my wife at her teacher’s retirement dinner tonight. Helping with AP Physics lately has been awesome. I now know my mission, to be a helping volunteer in Chem/Physics in retirement. Took ten years to finally figure it out.
