In the time-honored tradition of consumers expressing their rage at companies aligning with perceived liberal policies, people took to Twitter on Monday to light their own property on fire.

This time, it was Nike gear.
The offense? Partnering with Colin Kaepernick as the face of their “Just Do It” campaign.

Nothing more American than protest, right? At least people are burning their own **** rather than someone else’s as has been known to happen in the name of protest. I have some Nike socks I won’t be burning. Neither will I run out immediately to buy any Nike anything in a show of solidarity.

We need dozens more threads on this subject... and I need more :popcorn2: for them all.

The amount of conservatives getting triggered over this is amazing. Really sad. I don't really have any opinion on Kaepernick, but I'm not gonna go and light all my Nike products on fire. Because I'm not an idiot.

We'll see if Nike is hurt in the long-term. Right now this is the initial butthurt reaction. I'm sure concern over this will wane over time.

Burning ur stuff to own the libs

I can see a protest but torching an expensive pair of shoes, instead of donating them to a needy person, is pretty silly.

lol I should tell my husband I'm going to torch his Jordans just to see his face.

I take it this is not the first thread on the matter?

Free speech all around....

This is no better or worse or stupid or whatever than protesting or burning the American flag. Where’s all the support for this form of protest?

While I understand and value the blowback, I have to point out that there was one guy who lit his Nike's on fire while he was still wearing them.

That was an "evolutionary dead end" if ever I saw one. ;)

Is there a video?

Darwin works in mysterious ways. ;)

Keep in mind that Kaepernick has been on the NIKE dole since 2011. Not like he lost "everything" in the least.

Reminds me of the Keurig fiasco of cons burning their own **** in "protest" only to have Hannity later recant.

When was the last time you donated to a “needy person” as a form of protest?

I always donate all my old things so if I was going to protest a product, instead of burning it I would just donate it. Just seems like a waste to burn or destroy perfectly good things when other people need them.

The whole thing is rather silly and will blow over. I don't own any Nike stuff, I'm not going to run out and purchase any or burn any either. Nike may take some short term hit on this because people are unreasonable these days, but it won't last long.

It’s funny. The article first showed in my Yahoo inbox and I thought, meh, interesting but this won’t change anything I do. But, honestly, I don’t think I’d ever buy Nike again. I haven’t for awhile anyway, so I’m no big loss to the company.

When in doubt, light that **** on fire!

America might be a little better place if we all did.

Agree totally.

Better than burning other peoples stuff in your own neighborhood to own the conservatives. At least this affects no one but the idiot burning their own property.

But I imagine it greatly improved his 2 mile run time....
