College Football 2018-2019 Season

Miami & Florida State were always in the top five from 86 to my guess was around 2001. My guess is that there fall from dominance is related to
the rise of UCF & USF who were never on the radar, in fact were Division I–AA teams during the heyday of Miami & Florida State. In state 4 & 5 star
players now have 5 teams to choose from not just Florida, Miami & Florida State diluting the talent.

Probably so. Unfortunately for all Florida teams, national recruits don't look this way, unless one college or the other can further their position ambitions in the pro league. I don't know who in Florida can offer that anymore. But, I keep hoping that Coach Taggert can pick up a good share of the South Fla. crop, and then use the talent well, both for FSU and further their interests beyond college, whether as Pro football players 's or as Professionals in their chosen field.
Regards,
CP.

Not to appear to melancholy, but I agree that Bobby was a different sort. I didn't like the way they brought in Jimbo, and I am glad he's gone. Unfortunately for the Buc's Jameis he is a high priced bench warmer here.
I have actually turned to the Big 12(Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and those folks down south) for football these days. The ACC is certainly on a downward spiral.
Regards,
CP

I believe you meant the Big 10, which has 14 teams.

Agreed. 'Bama is in a different league. I'm afraid it is a race for second now. I wonder if Saban will someday make the Tide tuck away the Bear?
Regards,
CP

No doubt at some point, Bryant Denny Stadium will become "Bryant Denny Saban Stadium".

ND at Cuse may be the only game that means anything today. Of course, that is assuming Bama, Michigan, Clemson and Ohio State beat their cupcakes.

But a good game for those who love controversy is UCF and Cincinnati. A Knight win over the 9-1 Bearcats puts UCF at 10-0 and back in the "Hey, What about UCF?" conversation when it comes to determining the top 4.

Maryland, yes MARYLAND!, scored 24 against OSU in the first half. Michigan is going to kill the Buckeyes next week.

Maybe even more surprising is seeing Citadel tied with Bama at 10 in the 3rd.

Citidel 10 Alabama 10 at halftime! That's not fake news.

Some other good games to end top 4 hopes:

Maryland looks like it's ending Ohio St. dreams leading 24-17 and marching on last position before halftime
& their running back has run for over 200 yards before halftime.

I'm scared for my favorite teams West Va vs Okla State & UCF vs. Cincinnati.

If Clemson, with its ****ty conference, is considered big time enough to be ranked #2 and a lock to be in the final four, then UCF should be too. I have no problem with the committee bumping lackluster one-loss Michigan and OSU from the four-spot, if they put an undefeated UCF there instead.

UCF is undefeated because they play no one.

They are a solid team.

How would we know? The only team they beat that was worth a damn is Texas A&M, and they almost lost that one.

Big winners this week:
1) Notre Dame
2) UCF
3) Washington State

They'll all move up or cement their positions in the final four

Ohio State & Michigan didn't show me much at all . If they insert the winner of their game next week it will be just
because of the status of their conference. Maybe Northwestern will beat the winner to exclude the big ten. Oklahoma
has a horrible defense, Georgia will lose to Alabama, West Va blew a 31-14 halftime lead. I'd be looking seriously at
Washington State to be the poor sister in the final four to compete with Alabama, Clemson & Notre Dame.
UCF gets no respect, the only three obviously better than they are would be the aforementioned Alabama, Clemson & Notre Dame.
They'ed be 50/50 against any other top ten team. Remember last year the beat Auburn which was the only team
that beat the National Champion Alabama.

Duke, Clemson's opponent this week has never smelled the top 25, Cincinnati who UFC played this week was ranked
19th in the coaches poll & 20th in the AP poll & UCF beat a ranked team this week as easily or perhaps more easily
than Clemson beat an alsoran!

I agree. Michigan and OSU look weak. UCF looks solid. I'd put UCF in ahead of both if they finish the year unbeaten--again.

I would not. UCF is an up and coming team, however they still play in a pee wee league conference. I would not put them ahead of a one or two loss power house team. If UCF want's to be considered with the big boys, they should move out of their conference and into a competitive conference.

Clemson also plays in a pee wee league conference. But, no one seems to complain about them being ranked #2.

Not really. Saban warned about that in the lead up to the game. That triple option offense is not something Bama has seen in the last seven years. In the second half they adjusted and took care of business. I was at the game. The Citadel earned respect.

Clemson is playing Duke tonight. Talk about no one.

However Clemson plays very good teams as well every season and has been in three of the 4 playoffs. And they are undefeated.

So let us know when UCF plays Texas A&M.

The ACC is not a pee wee conference compared to the AAC. And Clemson in all of the last few years has played against at least one SEC team. They beat Texas A&M this season and Auburn the two previous seasons. In comparison, UCF beat Auburn in a meaningless bowl game after Auburn's defense had been devastated with injuries from playing Alabama once and Georgia twice.if you want to be a fan of UCF, nothing wrong with that. They are doing great for where they are. They should enjoy it for what it is. However they are not a power house team They play in a conference loaded with cupcakes. If UCF were to get into the 4 team playoffs, they would get slaughtered All teams are not equal. I am not sure that Notre Dame belongs in the top 4. And I like the team and it's storied history.

Other than Clemson, the ACC is no better than the AAC. The second best team in that conference just had its ass handed to it by ND, at home. UCF is 23-0. That's pretty impressive.

Beating Texas A&M is not exactly a big win. Not this year. UCF's victory over Cincinnati last night was much more impressive than Clemson squeaking by a weak A&M.

Pretty impressive for a team in a pee wee football conference for sure, however if they played Clemson's schedule this season and last, they would not be 23-0

Not as impressive as Clemson beating Texas A&M. 23-0 is wonderful, however putting it in perspective, they mostly play nobodies. I hope UCF takes the next step and moves into a big boy conference. That's one way teams get better. They schedule games with very good teams on a regular basis or move into big boy conferences. If UCF had played and beat Auburn during the regular season, I would have been more impressed. And btw, Texas A&M would slaughter UCF.
