Whoa! This is a bombshell. It is being investigated now. There are few articles that go into great detail about it. It appears that all the coaches wives knew - there are texts - and Urban Myer knew and most of his coaches knew. Of course at this point who knew is for the most part unproven. But it could well be that heads will roll at Ohio State if most of the allegations are true.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A report from Brett McMurphy on Wednesday claims that Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew of a 2015 domestic abuse allegation against former receivers coach Zach Smith, and had knowledge of Smith's alleged history of abuse against his ex-wife, Courtney Smith.

Zach Smith was fired by Ohio State on July 23 after McMurphy first reported that 2015 incident, another incident in 2009 in Florida and that Courtney Smith had an order or protection filed against her ex-husband in Delaware, Ohio on July 20.

After Paterno, one could hope they would know better. Apparently not.

Things have gotten sideways..............

You'd think, but somehow big colleges often seem to skate through Title IX violations. Athletic immunity is not part of Title IX but it may as well be an escape clause written in.

Heh. It's no secret that the collegiate athletic community operates with fewer obstacles and more perks than the other, non-profitable college enterprises.

Great, because College Football (and all College sports for that matter) need to be the news more... sigh.

He'll be fired. He's already halfway there.

Urban Meyer placed on paid administrative leave

Only way I see him not getting fired is to deny all facts, say his wife never told and pretend none of his other coaches ever talked about it. In other words, pretend to be Donald Trump or Jim Jordan.

Yeah “administrative leave” is pretty much pre-firing. It is not often that a high profile person returns to their job after administrative leave.

Under Title IX Myer's wife as an employee of the school was in violation as there is text showing that she did know about the abuse. At the very least she would/could/should be fired and also as a school employee OSU in thus in violation of Title IX.

From what I have read it appears that most of the coaches and Myer knew about it long ago.

UGA! UGA! Too much just ain't enough.

There are 24 days until the 2018 college football season begins.

I'll take Oregon State over Ohio State.

I see no possible way that Urban Meyer continues coaching at Ohio State, or probably anywhere for that matter. In this day and age, no big-time program will want to have anything to do with employing him.

The comeback trail is going to be difficult for Meyers.

Another perfect example why we need to get the sports out of academics.

He will go to the nfl and be a great coach. The browns, bucs, colts, bengals should be salivating right now.

Lets consider this: urban meyer has more wins last year than the two pro teams in ohio combined.

Hue jackson keeps his job going 0-16. Marvin lewis has been given a lifetime contract despite being 0-6 in the playoffs.

Jeez

The coach in question is the grandson of urban meyers mentor. He was like a son to urban meyer.

Urban is a good man.

You really don’t understand why Urban Meyer is about to be shown the door out of Ohio State right now, do you? Hint: It has nothing to do with his job performance.

It was a private family matter bro.

He counseled the troubled man. They even went to family counseling.

Christians don't leave behind family after trouble brews.

Yeah, you said the same thing about Roy Moore.

Ask the University of Florida what a good man Meyer is. Ask the battered and abused wife of the grandson of Meyer's mentor how good a man Meyer is.

Did urban meyer hit the woman?

Part of the metoo movement should invoke personal responsibility. If you are being battered and bruised, you should have the courage to take personal responsibility and take care of the matter yourself.

I actually would like to elaborate what I just wrote but I will have to research the matter more in depth and come up with a cleaned up response. Sorry.
