If Urban Myer Knew About the Abuse OSU Should Fire Him.

I actually would like to elaborate what I just wrote but I will have to research the matter more in depth and come up with a cleaned up response. Sorry.

While you are revising let me give you some assistance =====> It was not Courtney Smith's fault. She did not force her husband to verbally and physically abuse her. As is so often the case with women who are battered and beaten Courtney tried to rationalize it and thought it might get better. She was in fact told by her husband's grandfather and by another coach back in 2009 that the beating she received was a one off thing and that it wouldn't happen again. They guilt tripped her and told her she would be ruining his career if she had him arrested.

Let's be clear Zach Smith battered his wife, threatened her and verbally abused her many times after 2009. It didn't get better. It got worse.

If Urban Meyer knew about the abuse happening again after 2009 and Meyer failed to report it and ultimately failed to come to her aid he violated Title IX, but more importantly he took no action to stop it. That is not the character of a "good man."

You cast moral judgment on all involved so easily with so little real information about what happened. It's very possible that all the allegations against Meyer here are true, but that still doesn't mean he's not a "good man."

What is Zach Smith's side of this story? After all, she dropped charges in 2009 and declined to press charges in 2015. The latest incident is a disputed drop-off. The proper place for this to play out is in a court of law.

Urban Meyer should not be responsible for his employees' marriages. Anyone who has gone through or been privy to a contentious divorce or troubled marriage should be able to muster some empathy for all parties in this situation, but to hold the husband's employer accountable? WTF? The country has gone mad!

Here, let me help you with that. Reviewing my posts you will notice when referring to Meyer I said IF.

As far as Zach Smith beating the hell out of his wife it seems clear that he is less than innocent.

That's for a court to determine. I find Courtney Smith to be a dubious source, but I'm not really privy to the truth of this situation. Neither are you. I know that divorces and bad marriages are nasty things, and I would never fully trust the account of any ex-spouse. Real life is complex and messy and rarely conforms to easy narratives.

Risky thicket wants to publicly castrate Meyers before we know the whole story.

Let's go through a review of the process. The decision should be well thought out.

Being associated with someone that may have done something wrong is not a crime. Let's play it out.

lol...how did that work out for you with Aaron Hernandez. another upstanding Urb protégé.

Do you think Aaron Hernandez would have a better outcome had he never played for Urban Meyer?

Absolutely. He'd be kicked out of the NCAA and probably in jail after his first offense, wouldn't have earned NFL millions, and then would never have met that dude he murdered.

And, it is the dead dude who matters. That body is on Urb.

Nice narrative, but it misses my point, which is that Meyer did not corrupt Hernandez. This is like blaming the social worker when her clients go back to drugs. Urban Meyer does not make choices for those he coaches and is not accountable for their poor decisions or personal failings.

Urban Meyer is doing nothing different than what Nick Saban is doing.

Are you somehow blaming Urban Meyer for how Aaron Hernandez had become?

I am interested, doctor calamity.

Saban is doing one thing different for sure. He’s not getting caught.

Urb enabled Aaron to continue playing college football even though he was a thug. That’s a fact.

okay. And I guess all the players in Alabama are Choirboys

What a strange world this has become when a boss is supposed to fire an employee, who by all accounts I have read, has performed the required duties to the standard expected by the university with regard to the students/student-athletes. If this employee also happens to beat his wife, then he should be locked up and punished severely. He certainly couldn't be working then and could reasonably be fired.

I can't stand Meyer, have no interest in OSU, nor even the Big Ten. This isn't the noose that should find his neck.

I also don't think beating ones wife should be the sole reason for firing someone from their job, and an employee beating their wife shouldn't be the sole reason for a supervisor to lose their job. I expect the law to deal with crime and punishment, not football teams or athletic departments. You might as well ban this wife beater from all future employment anywhere. You should probably ban the wife beater from any future relationships. Hell, just impose the death penalty and the problem goes away.

It's in the rules (Title IX), and adhering to those rules is written into Meyer's contract. It is what it is.

I accept the duty to report, I do not believe that it should justify termination of Meyer.

I believe it was his lying that is at issue more than his dropping the ball.

Personally, I'd like to see liars punished. Meyer, Trump, Preachers....the list is long. And, we've been ignoring it too long.

Meyer didnt lie. After reviewing the case I have the utmost faith in Urban Meyer and firmly believe he will and should keep his job.

Urban's fault is many that strong Christian men have. He trusts in people too much and gives them second chances.

Instead of attacking Urban we should praise him instead of following trap to this radical me too movement which is a radical movement in punishing men for the crimes of a minority.

Meyer is probably going to remain coach, which will drive SEC mouthpiece and FS1 lead sports yak, Clay Travis, crazy for the entire college football season, especially if OSU hands it to Alabama in the final four.

I believe he told the right lies the other day. Call it plausible deniability. That and the 14-day investigation target sounds like it's already a done deal.

The comeback trail is going to be difficult for Meyers.

He will keep his job. Urban Meyer is more than a coach.

His only crime you can argue is lying to the media which is not lying because the media are full of sick puppies.

Is it? I’ve always thought the intent of the rules pertained to things taking place within an athletic program or school not domestic allegations.

I see no possible way that Urban Meyer continues coaching at Ohio State, or probably anywhere for that matter. In this day and age, no big-time program will want to have anything to do with employing him.
IF...OSU lets him go he would have no problem getting back into coaching, if he wanted to. He has been successful at Bowling Green, took Utah to a combined to year record of 22 and 2 with one of those years going undefeated, and has since won 3 BCS Championships.

I believe all the wives are "employed" in the AD in one form or other. It's a great gig if you can find it.

OSU is barely a college and rumor has it they recruit from prisons. They need to get their comeuppance.
